In case of emergency, break glass. Do you have anything in your house for in case of an emergency? Do you have food/batteries/flash light/matches/bottled water, etc? How about a crank radio, diapers, tooth brushes?
This is something we do not want to think about, the “what ifs” in life can be very scary sometimes. But as with life insurance and all those adult topics in life, they must be figured out, especially if you have a significant other and/or children.
NYC’s OEM Face Book page is a great place to start. Even for those of us who don’t live in New York City.
For starters there is a new game on their Face Book page which involves fast thinking and quick decisions in stressful situations. It is called the Readiness Challenge. Give it a shot and see how you do. Right now the emphasis on their site is on a meeting place. Someplace where everyone in your house will meet in case of an emergency and your home is inaccessible. Police Department, Fire Department, Museum, someplace safe and public, where there will be people with whom you can hopefully find some help and some shelter if need be. Most importantly keep a cool head and prepare for the worst but hope for the best. 🙂
