I was lucky enough to be able to review 2 of their new Cooperative Games for Little Kids. I reviewed Snug As a Bug in a Rug, and Race to the Treasure.

The great thing about all of the games in this line is that they are Cooperative games. Which means, that you work together with all the partners against some sort of obstacles. These types of games allow kids to work together, take turns, follow directions, and of course to cooperate!

This is a GREAT game for a variety of ages in kids!! There are 3 levels for playing this game! My daughter is only 2.5, but she had no problem playing the game at the first level, and did alright at the second level.

For the game, you have to match certain attributes on the bugs, and if you match them, you get to put them under the bed! If there are no matches, you have to put a stink bug on the bed!! You want to try and clean off the bed before all of the bugs are off of the bed!

Level 1: Roll the die at the beginning of the game, and that decides which attribute you will match for the entire game- color, number, or shape. You have to find the attributes of whatever is rolled, or you have to put a stink bug on the bed.

Level 2: You have to roll the die, and spin the spinner to find out which 2 attributes must be matched for your turn!

Level 3: The kids have to match two attributes in their matches!

Awards that the game has received:

  • 2012 Oppenheim Platinum Award
  • 2012 Dr. Toy 100 Best Toys for Kids
  • 2012 Dr. Toy 10 Best Educational Products

My Thoughts:

I completely LOVED this game. There are so many ways that the game can be played! My daughter loves it, and I love it as well. I am a BIG game person, and I really love playing games with her! I am so glad that she is finally of the age to be able to play games, and also to really enjoy them!

I can’t wait to grow with this game and start to really be able to play it with the other levels as well!

This was also a great game. I will admit that this was definitely a little hard for Ella, but it is recommended for 5 and up only.

In order to play this game, you have to create a path from the start to the finish, and beat the Ogre to the treasure! While they are trying to get there, they have to collect 3 keys to open the treasures lock before the Ogre. The players have to work together to be able to build a path as a team. If they make it down the path before the Ogre, then they all win!

Awards that this game has received:

  • 2012 Oppenheim Platinum Award
  • 2012 PAL Award Winner
  • 2012 Major Fun! Award
  • 2012 B. EcoChic Approved

My Thoughts

I completely loved this game, even though I didn’t get to play it really with Ella! I am a 3rd grade teacher, and those students really enjoyed working together to play this game!

I think that it really teaches lots of problem solving skills, and really also helps with coordinate grids that we just so happened to have been working on in our classroom recently!
