Prior to having your therapy session, you will need to prep yourself up in order to achieve utmost relaxation. It may not be your intent to spoil a massage session, but if you don’t have any idea on what happens during one, you might not avoid some inconveniences. If it is your first time to get a massage, you might feel a little bit nervous and you probably do not know what you have to do.

 

But you don’t need to worry since there are several ways that you will learn in order to be fully prepared for a massage session. Here are five tips you should know in preparing for your first massage therapy session.

 

  1.  Stay relaxed and comfortable.

 

The whole point of you getting massage therapy is to relieve any tension or pain in your body. Feeding your nervousness prior to your appointment will not help you achieve that. That means, you need to prepare yourself not just physically, but also mentally. Wearing appropriate and comfortable clothes will help a lot.   1.  Avoid eating a lot of food before your massage therapy session.

Communication is the key to getting the most out of your massage therapy session. Provide pertinent details about your health and inform them beforehand what your preferences are. Do this so they can avoid some things that might make you uncomfortable. For instance, you may be allergic to some of the oils they use. Communicate with them so they can find you a substitute lotion or powder. Also, you may be uncomfortable with some of the music they play during a session. Let your massage therapist know if you prefer another music or if you prefer total silence.
