Stir Fry

I was in a rush the other day to get dinner done and threw together a last minute stir fry. Didn’t even have the right ingredients, like peppers (how could I not have peppers?) We all have these days, but you don’t have to worry, stir fry is like another one of those dinners you can throw almost anything at and it’ll come out great. Play with flavors and have fun with it! I used this simple quick recipe this past week.

The Digest Diet Review

The Digest Diet is a 21 day weight loss plan, based on science, new foods and habits that can help the body release that unwanted fat. Along with the Digest Diet, we reviewed the Digest Cookbook which is full of easy quick, and tasty recipes to enjoy. If you get the Digest Diet book, I highly recommend getting the cookbook as well. There are great tips in both books so be sure to pick both. On average a dieter using the 21 day plan losing up to 26 lbs! The books contain the most up to date research and are full of good information to help you through the fight against fat.

My take on The Digest Diet and the Digest Diet Cookbook-

The cookbook itself holds plenty of recipes to pick from, from main meals, snacks to desserts that will help fill you up but also slim you down. The Digest Diet book (no the cookbook) itself has your 21 days’ worth of recipes as well. Everything you need to get started is in the first book, but I like the additional cookbook for the obvious reasons- it gives you more to choose from. There’s tips, even varieties to choose from so you can change up dinner plans in a flash. This right here is a must for any diet cookbook, not only do most families not have time, we cannot run to the store for things. The cookbook uses things that are mostly all on hand making it easier to use.

Throughout each book you break down habits, nutritional facts and aids to help you get in the right frame of mind to see areas you need to [Read more…]

Barbecue Beef Chili

I normally make this chili with beef brisket but this time around I only had beef on hand. It comes out great each way but I do prefer the brisket over anything. Great for a busy day you can toss all this into a slow cooker and forget about it till it’s dinner time. Since I’m also a huge football fan, this is a must on Sundays!

WIN Kids CookBook Handstand Kids- Baking around the world- By Yvette Garfield

My kids love helping me bake pretty much anything, so they were more than happy to help me review Handstand Kids- Baking around the world- By Yvette Garfield, a wonderful all around delightful cookbook for kids.

kids

Baking in pj’s! It’s all good!

The child friendly kit comes with cupcake baking cups, a kid friendly whisk and really fun easy recipes that any child would enjoy. We made the All American Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies, which we handed out for holiday parties and friends. My oldest daughter read the directions while my middle daughter helped dumped all the ingredients in. It’s so important to have the kids help in the kitchen, they learn a lot and baking is a great fun experience to share with them at any age. Even my youngest who is three helped us out. These are my two girls rolling the cookies in sugar and setting on the pan.

Cinnamon Bread

I love bread! Always will too, this is by far my favorite breakfast bread- enjoy. Perfect warm out of the oven, and even better to make french toast with. My kids adore me when I make cinnamon raisin french toast. It seems like a lot of work , but once you taste it you will know it was worth the effort!

Cinnamon Bread

1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup warm water (110 degrees)
2 packages active dry yeast
3 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup raisins
8 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons milk
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions
1.Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it bubbles, then remove from heat. Let cool until lukewarm.

2.Dissolve yeast in warm water, and set aside until yeast is frothy. Mix in eggs, sugar, butter or margarine, salt, and raisins. Stir in cooled milk. Add the flour gradually to make a stiff dough.

Turkey Smoked Beans

This is an easy meal to put together at the start of the day and have it ready when you are ready to eat dinner. My best meals are throw together and even the ones that take so little preparation or ingredients. You can also mix this up and toss in whatever you like. I used left over vegetable pieces to make a better seasoned taste and also used a smoked turkey neck. You can sub the turkey for ham, even bacon, even chicken if you like. The purpose of this is to use the bone and left over meat to get the flavor. By the time it’s done cooking the meat has fallen off the bone, the flavor is full and you have a heart warm bowl of beans.

Ingredients

1 bag of white beans (16oz)

1 package smoked turkey neck (or left over ham bone with meat still on it, chicken bones with meat,)

My Circle of Creativity- Review and Give it Away

My Circle of Creativity was a blast with my girls! The age on this is recommended for 6+ and my oldest is 7 so I wondered if it would be a little hard for her or the younger ones but it really fit in. With very simple directions and some time we were able to start making some key chains.

Make sure you screw it on tightly before picking it up or the trays will come apart. I didn’t have a problem with that but the kids didn’t screw it on well enough once so it did come apart.

The Circle of Creativity is a great kit for some fun. 4 layers, each tray comes off and reviews supplies for whatever you feel up to making, key chains, bracelets, lanyards, you name it! I think my favorite part [Read more…]
