Don’t be censored – Take a stand and #stopSOPA, it affects us all.

If passed, the law would give greater powers to the U.S.
government to essentially blacklist foreign websites accused of hosting copyright-infringing content.

All you have to do is be accused of infringement and poof…you’re shut down. The laws are excessive and would essentially make it impossible for sites such as Twitter, YouTube and Flickr to exist in their current form. Anyone who uses the internet is affected in some way.
Because the legislation could punish someone who links to a site that happens to also host copyrighted content, those doing the linking could [Read more…]

How to Find Low-Cost Dental Care for Your Family

Even with insurance, the expense of medical and dental care for a family can be high. First there is the
cost of insurance to contend with, and while you will certainly pay a lower premium if your employer
offers benefits, you will either pay more for the best policy or opt for lower monthly costs and likely find
yourself paying out-of-pocket down the road (thanks to restrictions and deductibles). And if you don’t
have access to work-related health benefits, you’re probably going to find yourself on the hook for a lot
more, either for insurance, care, or both. So if you’re one of the many adults looking for a way to get
your family the dental care they need for less, here are a few options you may want to consider.

1. Clinical trials. By simply searching on ClinicalTrials.gov you may be able to volunteer to
participate in professionally run studies dealing with certain oral issues. You may even receive
treatment free (or at least at a drastically reduced cost). Of course, you won’t likely be able to
go for your annual cleaning in this way, but if you have some kind of serious dental problem that
is going to cost you some major dough, this could be a way to get the lion’s share covered while
receiving cutting-edge treatment.

2. Dental schools. This is a safer bet for your average dental issues. There are likely several in your
area and they are always looking for volunteers to help students get their practice hours and
take practical exams. So whether you need a cleaning, a filling, a root canal, or a tooth removed
(or replaced), this is a good way to get it done for a lot less. And don’t feel like you’re going to
get stuck with a second-rate [Read more…]

Disney on Ice- Get Your Tickets NOW!

I adored this magical performance of Disney On Ice- MICKEY & MINNIE’S MAGICAL JOURNEY. Why? It was something a little different- a nearly Princess-free show! Yes, yes, we all love the princesses. But so often, the shows are just consumed by them- in fact, the last show was called Princesses on Ice, LOL. So, how refreshing for a little change in the line-up. The vacation theme? You know I loved that! One more thing I loved, as a mommy of a little guy? There was almost nothing at all (AT ALL) scary in this show. I will elaborate.

Most of the shows have villains, yes? Because that is what Disney does- show the good triumph over evil- but lets be real. Some of those characters can be quite dark, and I quite often get emails, tweets, and comments asking if I think that a young child would be afraid. For this show, I can answer NO- I think almost any child wouldn’t have a moments fear. There were only two times that only the most fearful child would screech- but I didn’t hear any, and honestly they were trivial moments, very brief, and super non-frightening. I would without a doubt bring a small child to this show without a worry in the world about scary characters.

In Act One of this show, we were treated to my son’s favorite- The Lion King! He was in love with the “soft costumes, not plastic costumes” that Simba and Nala wore. While he likes Rafiki, Pumbaa and Timone- it’s of course Simba that took the cake for him. They did a wonderful job transitioning juvenile Simba to the adult, as well.
The world according to Little Man- “They had soft costumes, so Simba was huggy and soft, since he is a baby. Then Big Simba came and played with Nala and his friends. But Scar didn’t even come, since I know he knows what happens next- off the rock. Yeah, but he didn’t even come today. So that’s good for Simba. Simba hates fighting.” There you have it- Little Man’s first Disney review, LOL. (He was asked by a third party what he thought of the show, LOL- and that was his answer. I am glad I had a notebook to write it down, it amused me!)

Enter the Little mermaid- under the sea! Since we are taking a vacation, you know we have to visit the ocean 🙂 We can all use a little more seashore! No scary transformations, crashing ships, Sebastian chopping [Read more…]
