Erba Vita – Herbal Supplements for the Whole Family

Disclosure- I received the below in order to facilitate my post. All opinions are my own and honest. I am disclosing this in accordance to FTC Guidelines. Please see “Disclose” tab for more information.

We were recently sent some new herbal products to try out.  Since it has only been a few days, I can’t tell you how they work yet, but I can tell you that they don’t taste bad or leave an unpleasant aftertaste.  I can also tell you that my son takes the liquid with no problem- and really likes the bear on the packaging.  He says that makes it “cute for kids”.

Here is a little more about the product from the manufacturer-

Erba Vita, a beloved 30-year-old, European brand of natural health products are coming to the US this summer. All products are plant-based and non-GMO meaning fewer artificial ingredients in the medicine cabinet for you and your family.

Balance Bars- Review and Giveaway

Did you know that in a recent study out of the University of Bristol found almost 80% of New Year’s resolutions are broken within the first month of the year. I think this statistic is insane, yet completely believable. By setting unattainable goals and little support, this is an unfortunate reality. There is some hope for those of us trying to lose weight and get healthier, and that is with Balance Bar. Their most recent campaign is all about helping people “Outlast” their new year’s resolution. But teaming up with a certified life coach and Balance Bar Guru, Amber Rosenberg, you too can have a healthier outlook on life and shed those pounds in a healthy way.

To start here are a few helpful tips:

1) Set short-term goals as well as long-term goals. Instead of shooting to lose a pants size, try instead to set a smaller goal like replacing that afternoon stop at the vending machine with a healthy snack. Try cutting out that soda with lunch and opt for the fruit juice or water first. Balance Bars make this easy because not only are the healthy but also are the perfect size to bring along with you wherever you [Read more…]

Win Body Rolling #Yamuna #Health @yamunabody #Yoga

Today we are featuring Body Rolling. Body Rolling is a technique taught by Yamuna, where you yourself are the therapist and your tool to help you work your body into alignment is a ball. The ball provides traction, movement and release. Body rolling is a form of therepy which follows the techniques of Yamuna Body Logic.

Yamuna Body Logic is a way of aligning your muscles and skeletal system in such way where pain is relieved and stress dissolves. The interesting part of this is there is an emphasis on self-reliance. That is after a few initial visits you are taught how to align yourself. This is of course after an expert has properly diagnosed and assessed your body. Body Logic can improve posture, increase range of motion, align all the parts of the body, increase muscle tone, increase flexibility, and improve organ functions.

Yamuna Body Logic creates space between muscle and bone, allowing the body’s perfect circuitry to fire in logical and correct order. This, in turn, [Read more…]

Stillettos and Self Defense

Jennifer Cassetta is a self defense expert, trainer and nutritionist. Early on in her career, Jennifer was attacked while in high heels. Even though she was not dressed to fight, she was still able to ward off her attacker. Since then, she has run UFC test nutrition test groups and training guidelines, worked with celebrities, members of royal families, and even moms like you and me.

This exercise comes with empowerment and a touch of class. Jennifer Cassetta has released a brand new instructional DVD series titled Stilettos and Self Defense. This series was inspired by Jennifer’s own run in with a would be attacker using her experiences and training in HapKiDo, so these moves work! The DVD is broken [Read more…]

Rookie USA Kids SportsWear Store Moves into Manhattan #RookieUSA #CBias

I recently went to the newly opened Rookie USA store, located at 808 Columbus on the Upper West Side. Rookie USA was in a super convenient location, with lots of other stores and shopping nearby, on street parking and parking garages available. It was a beautiful day, on a beautiful street- AND I even found a parking space, and successfully parallel parked 🙂 Hey- sometimes it’s the little things!

I know- But I was so proud of myself- I am the worst parallel parker!

Rookie USA is beautifully set up, with wide open spaces (easy for pushing strollers in) and racks that are not overcrowded with clothes. The employees were friendly, and the store itself was clean and had a nice atmosphere- no loud music or flashing lights that make me want to run out as fast as I can, LOL.

The store sells clothing and accessories such as backpacks and baseball hats for infants through teenagers. They carry brands like Nike, Levi’s, Converse and Air Jordan, and even have very small jerseys. There is an entire wall of sneakers as well.

There [Read more…]

Run for the Planet

National Geographic Kids has launched a new campaign to try and break not one, but TWO, Guinness World Records. The program is called Run for the Planet, and it is an effort to encourage children to do something good for both their health and the environment.

  • The first record they are going after is the longest shoe chain. Participants are encouraged to send in used athletic shoes, which will be tied together to break the record and then recycled into athletic surfaces, such as basketball courts and running tracks. This record [Read more…]

Paddle Boarding in New Smyrna Beach

Tired of the crazy, frenzied, tourist rush? I love theme parks as much as the next gal (maybe more!) but sometimes, you just have to get away. My son, a friend, and I took a day trip out to New Smyrna Beach to paddle board at East Coast Paddle, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Spending the day out in the quietude, in nature, and with only 5 people visible to me (including myself) was a welcome break from the crush of crowds you typically find at most attractions.

vacation in florida

About and hour and a half from Kissimmee, East Coast Paddle is an award winning-company, run by a husband and wife team. Proud parents themselves, they are excellent with children. Mine was smitten with wife, Cheryl, who toured about with him on her board the morning through. Cheryl, who has a doctorate in addition to her company and expert paddle boarder-status (and is a boat captain as well- yes, she makes us all look bad, LOL) also acted as tour guide in the river in New Smyrna for us, and was more then patient as we found our balance (or didn’t) and with my son, who kept dangling his feet in the water (which I am sure did not make steering easy for her!) Her husband, Tim, joined us in the beginning, and gave us our “lessons” on how to properly use the paddles and boards before we got on.

I think I annoyed him mildly, as I was only half paying attention (my son was asking a million questions, and also since he was on a boat and wandering, I was nervous- even though he was standing with Cheryl and I was an arm’s length away, LOL. What can I say, nervous mommy!) When we got on the boards, I found myself not having much of an issue finding my balance or keeping it. As a yoga lover for many years, I think that helped a lot, and did a fondness for kayaking. My son got right on Cheryl’s board, and stayed there, no problem. How she kept her balance with his wiggling is beyond me, though! My friend had a rougher start, but then he found his groove and we were on the way.

Healthy Alternatives to Junk Food for Kids Lunches

While most kids will put up with a sandwich and a piece of fruit in their lunch box,
they probably go for the “good” stuff first when the bell rings to announce the lunch hour.
This means that they’re filling up on chips, soda, candy, and whatever else you put in as
extras before they ever reach for the healthy items that are actually going to give them
some nutrients and offer the sustained energy they’ll need to make it through the end of
the school day. Of course, the reason for this is that the high volume of sugar, salt, and
fat in these items makes them very tasty, and our brains are programmed to stimulate
pleasure centers. If you put that stuff in your child’s lunch, he’s sure to eat it first. Sadly,
school lunches are not much better, with low-cost and less-than-fresh options generally
populating the assembly line of slop. So what can concerned parents do to ensure that
their kids are eating healthy? Here are a couple of options.

For starters, stop buying junk! You might think that it’s not so bad if your kid has it
once in a while, but the truth is that these substances are addictive. You’ve no doubt
heard the Lays potato chips catchphrase: No one can eat just one! This is because it
takes very little exposure for our bodies to begin craving the instant energy boost that
often accompanies snack foods and drinks. And the crash that follows all too soon only
makes us want more. Soon other, healthier foods become less desirable. But in your
home you have the power to control what your kids are eating. [Read more…]
