Reeds Natural Soda Review

Who loves being nauseous? Anyone? Not I! As a migraine sufferer, one of the things that can be the worst is the nausea that accompanies them. Reeds RX Natural Soda is made to combat nausea naturally. It is even safe for pregnant women (oh where were you 4 years ago, Reeds RX?) and children.
As luck would have it (or not! LOL) the day that the Reeds RX came, I was having an horrific migraine. I was vomiting, I was shaking, the whole 9 yards. I was laying in the bathroom on the floor when my husband came in to tell me I got a package. I’m thinking- and I care because why? He sits there, telling me what mail came, blah blah blah- I was too sick to tell him to be quiet and go away- and then he tells me that the package has Red Bull in it. I’m thinking “What? Red Bull?”
And he tells me, “oh, no- wait- it says Reeds Natural something, I don’t know, anyway”…
I shot my hand out and told him to give me one. He thought I was losing my mind, but I just left my hand out, so he gave it to me. (They do look a bit like Red Bull cans, haha)
The taste was terrible to me, I’m not going to lie. And it coated my whole mouth, tongue, and throat. I didn’t finish even half the can, just a few sips.
But- I felt better. And I stopped throwing up after about 20 minutes.
OKOK, I thought it was a fluke.
So, I left a can at work, and the rest at home. Two days ago, it was coming on. Migraine, complete with nausea. Took my meds. Nothing, it’s still coming, even a half hour later. Took more- stronger, and the anti-nausea medication. Nope, it’s still coming. I don’t want to take the shot, because I’m working, and it really makes me tired and a bit out of it. But I’m going to throw up. It’s coming, I can feel it. Anyone who gets migraines knows this feeling- you just KNOW. For me, once I’m vomiting, I’m a lost cause. I can deal with the migraine until the throwing up comes. Then…..not so much.
I grabbed the can, looked at it suspiciously (like it was going to bite me, LOL) and thought OK, lets see what you can do! Again- ugh! That taste! Blech! Didn’t take more then 3 sips- not only do I really hate the taste, but I’m really fighting that gag reflex at this point. But again, you know what? In 10 minutes, I felt better. And I never did throw up.
So, bad taste or no- it works. My mom says the medicine just kicked in- but I know my body. It was not the meds, they were lost on me by that point. Both times I drank the Reeds Rx Natural Soda, I either stopped vomiting or never stared.

Reed’s Rx

Ginger is a traditional herbal tonic for nausea. It has been in use in certain parts of the world for thousands of years. The earliest writings from China and India talk about ginger and its health promoting properties. Other cultures throughout history, including the Roman Empire, have used ginger extensively to settle stomach complaints. More recently, Vitamin B6 is being used for its anti-nausea properties. Reed’s Natural Ginger Nausea Relief uses both fresh ginger root and B6 to help alleviate nausea naturally.

I’ve had migraines since I was 9. I know them, we are old enemies. All the medicines I dump into my body every day would make your head spin. And they don’t always work. If the Reeds works even half the time, I’m a new buyer.
When you are sick, with the flu, with morning sickness (who ever thought of that term, anyway? ALL DAY sickness, LOL) with migraines, car sick, anything! I would totally try this.

Zarbees Cough Syrup Review (and a coupon!)

ZarBees All Natural Children’s Cough Syrup has a long name, but it’s one worth remembering.
It’s safe for kids ages 2 and up- and you know most medicine is not recommended for kids under 4. No, now it’s 6. Soon it will be no medicine for kids under 18, good grief! 🙂
But ZarBees is available for your child over the age of 1 year. THANK GOODNESS! And it’s also all natural, which is such an added bonus. Who wants to put all sorts of chemicals into their kids if you really don’t need to?
Little Man likes the flavor, and he never gives me any problem taking it. He also likes the bee on the bottle- he thinks it’s “cutie” (his word).
A little bit about ZarBees All Natural Children’s Cough Syrup

  • Great for toddlers with night coughs
  • Children with sore throats, upper respiratory infection
  • Children with coughs caused by allergies
  • Children with hoarse or scratchy coughs

Children 12 months and older can safely take ZarBee’s Cough Syrup.

ZarBee’s™ Children’s Cough Syrup is an all-natural, honey-based cough suppressant that provides children relief from coughs while simultaneously boosting the immune system. The product is made with a unique blend of dark honey, vitamins and other all natural ingredients. ZarBee’s does not contain any Dextromethorphan or alcohol and is safe for children 12 months and older. It is high in antioxidants and contains the daily vitamin C requirements per dose. Pediatricians recommend it and you can find out more at www.Zarbees.com.
Les Walgreen said, “As we have seen a recent recall of DM children’s medicines, parents have nowhere to turn to. Those medications (DM) already were marked unsafe for children 4 and under. Finally, there is a safe and effective treatment for young children! I expect a resounding response from retailers that can now offer ZarBee’s on their shelves. Parents, get ready, ZarBee’s will be there for you and your children!”

I will be buying it again when we run out, for sure.
You can get it in Rite Aid for sure, and check your local drug stores to see if they carry it. Or you can just get it online!
(And make sure you click HERE for a coupon!)
Yay for ZarBees!

Coldcam Homeopathic Medicine Review and Contest!

Boiron, makers of great homeopathic medicines, recently sent me Children’s Coldcam to try out. I didn’t review it right away, because I actually wanted to use it and see how it worked, LOL.
The Coldcam comes in a little tube about the size of a chapstick- in fact, it is in the bag next to a Burt’s Bees chapstick, and I often mistakenly grab it when I am looking for the chap stick, LOL.
When you take the top off, you turn it to take out tiny little balls or pellets of medicine. They taste like sugar-water to me. Here is what Boiron has to say about Childrens Coldcam

Children 3 years of age and older: At the onset of cold symptoms, take 5 pellets every 20 minutes for 1 hour. Then take 5 pellets every 2 hours until symptoms are relieved. Allow the pellets to dissolve in the mouth.

Children younger than 3 years of age: Ask a doctor before use.

My Little Man has been out with a cold, strep, ear infection, croup, pinkeye, flu, etc pretty much non-stop this year- poor kid really has not had a chance to recover before he gets nailed again!
Kamikaze is always physically healthy as a horse, we are lucky in that respect with her.
It came with two tubes, so one kid each.
I really didn’t notice any difference. Little keeps getting sick, and he didn’t seem to get better any faster. Kamikaze had her cold for about 3 days- which is pretty par for the course for her. I don’t know if they worked. I didn’t notice anything. I’m sorry that I don’t have more to say on this subject- but I can’t tell you something that I didn’t actually experience.
One thing- Little Man and Kamikaze, who both take medicine well, both thought that these little pellets/balls of medicine were “fun”, and they liked when I turned them out of the tube for them. We went through the tubes kind of quickly- not because we were OD-ing the kids, LOL, but because the directions told us to give them 5 pellets every 2 hours. Seems crazy, but they are really tiny, and designed to dissolve on the tongue- so it’s not really as much as it sounds like.
However, the kids had no issues eating them. So, if your kids are difficult medicine-takers, this may be one to try out.

Boogie Wipes- Review and Contest!

Ah, cold and flu season. We all know it! Have had it, maybe have it now? (Wish it would go away and never come back, taking it’s lovely friends “mucus” and “congestion” with it?) One of the annoyances that come along with colds is the constant runny noses! As an adult, it’s bad enough. But when I see my Little Man with that red, chapped nose? I feel so bad! I can’t stand it when he gets worked up over a tissue- he doesn’t want me to wipe it because he knows it’s going to hurt his nosie. Poor bubbie! So what’s a mommy to do? Often, I end up using a wet wipe, like one that is made for “diaper messes”. But there is another kind of wipe- called “Boogie Wipes” that I just got to try out. Made just for runny noses, they don’t chap them like a regular tissue does. They are soft and sensitive, and come in 3 varieties- Unscented, Aloe, and Grape (LOL, like you are going to eat them!) They are really big, too- so if you have a GIANT boogie mess- you are good to go! I usually ended up cutting them in half, because I don’t like to waste, and they are too big for your average nose wipe. But it is good to have the option of the GIANT MESS WIPE if you need it- because we all know they come, don’t they?

Boogie Wipes are made with natural saline to dissolve boogies (mucus) caused by the common cold, allergies or otherwise booger-filled kid moments.
Extra soft, alcohol, phthalate and paraben free, Boogie Wipes are available in Great Grape, Fresh Scent, Magic Menthol and Simply Unscented. Recommended by pediatricians as a gentle, effective alternative to a dry tissue.

Want to win some Boogie Wipes to try out on your little booger? (hehehe)

OK, so it’s January. How is that New Years Resolution going? Have you found a fitness product or workout routine that you love? Variety, I believe, really is the spice of life. I like have different things to do on a regular basis, and that includes my exercise routine. Total Fitness DVDs has a little bit of everything- which translates into something for everyone! (Yes, even you) There are so many fitness options, it’s nuts! Trying to narrow down what to try is both fun and a bit mind-boggling, LOL. (And they have a good promotional even going on right now, too!)

But I did find a fun one! Anyone who wants to try a fun workout, that is interesting, different, and something you will look forward to doing- this is one for you! I love Pure Barre Pershing Square 2 DVD, by Carrie Rezabek. Total Fitness DVDs has some really fun and interesting workout options- I have never heard of this one!- and when I got the chance to do a review of Pure Barre, I was super excited! I am not graceful, I am not (and never have been!) a dancer or enrolled in a dance or gymnastics class.
And, let me state this- IT IS REALLY HARD! Not because you need fantastic dance moves, or hard in the way that you will not want to do it, but it will definitely make you work. Like- the next day? I was sore in places I didn’t remember that I had, and I found myself muttering unkind things at the instructor under my breath as I went through the routine (hehehe). I also must confess- I didn’t make it all the way through the first time. But you know, I kept at it- and I did get though it after the third try. I am not going to hurt myself or kill myself over losing weight or getting “fit”- you can’t get fit if you can’t move, LOL!
I’m not in the best shape (I used to be a competitive athlete, and I was a paid model at one point long ago and far away!) but I know I can get there. Pure Barre definitely made me work- but isn’t that it’s “job”?
I do really like it. I posted a few times on Facebook and Twitter about how it is going- and if you are followers there, you know that I’m loving it! It’s hard, but so far it has been one of my favorites. I also Bookmarked “Total Fitness DVDs” for future use- they have such a great selection, and I know I am going to want to shop there the next time that I am on the lookout for a new “something” to get me moving!

As much as I love my Little Man, I hate my “Body by Baby”. And he’s not a baby anymore! My “baby” is 3. So I need to move it, and get my body back! I know I will not be 17 again- and that’s cool- who needs the acne? 🙂 But I do miss my favorite jeans, my cute tops and dresses, and not having quite so much arm jiggle. Ladies (and gentleman)- take charge of your body! It’s not always going to be easy, or even easy to make the time. But YOU ARE WORTH IT! You will feel better about yourself, you will feel better physically- and you will be healthier for your family. You can do it! 🙂

Want a little help getting started? You can win a copy of Pure Barre from Total Fitness DVDs right here!

Shmirshky, a review

New Book! This one is a little bit out of my “normal” reads, LOL, but informative nonetheless. It’s about women who are going through menopause, and pre-menopause. I’m a bit young for this now, but it is good to know what’s to come! It’s not like people discuss this stuff on the regular- though maybe they should. If all women go through some kind of menopausal issues- why not at least understand what’s going on?

It’s a but much at times- the author is trying really hard to be funny and witty, and sometimes it’s just like GROAN, ok, yep. Got it. And the words Shmirshky and Erlick are used every other second. But it is not a dry read, it’s not boring, and that is saying something when the topic is as “touchy” as this one. If you are going to read a book on the subject- and we all should- give this one a try. It’s a quick read, and like I said- you won’t be bored. It also has some good suggestions for going to the doctor and things to watch out for. Kind of like a “What to Expect When You’re Expecting….the Menopause Years” (LOL)

Are you a woman? Or do you know one? Then
Shmirshky: the pursuit of hormone happiness is for you! Shmirshky is the first book on menopause of its kind — it’s easy, funny, and full of love! Rest assured, this is not your mother’s menopause resource book. The truth is, your mother probably never had a book on menopause, and if she did, she probably thought it was really boring. Reading shmirshky is like having a cocktail with a hilarious friend, who just so happens to know a lot about menopause.
Let’s face it, menopause doesn’t have the best reputation in the world. It’s rarely talked about, and when it is, it’s usually quickly dismissed and often dreaded. Shmirshky, a menopause resource, redefines this time in a woman’s life, turning a taboo topic into an all-inclusive page turner.
Whether you’re a forty-five-year-old woman in perimenopause or an eighteen-year-old man who thinks his mom is in need of an exorcism, Shmirshky is the perfect introduction to a subject we all encounter in one way or another.
Shmirshky: the pursuit of hormone happiness comes with a Daily Symptoms Chart, which will help you communicate your symptoms to your doctor. Remember, reaching out is IN. Suffering in silence is OUT!
