Win a Top Trainers DVD set!

(This information was given to me by the sponsor in order to run this contest- I have not tried these products, so I cannot tell you about them from my own experience.  This is not a personal recommendation for this reason, but here is the product information for you    🙂   )

Each time a celebrity sheds a massive amount of weight or gives birth and miraculously regains their post baby body, most of us regard this with envy. We think, “Sure I could do that too, if I had their dream team of personal trainers.”  Personal fitness trainers are expensive and depending on the city one lives in, they can range as high as $300.00 an hour.

Fitness trainers certainly have their benefits; they are motivational and ensure that work out regimens are varied and target different areas of the body including strength, toning and aerobic endurance. Those who cannot afford trainers or seek more privacy in the comfort of their own homes often turn to workout DVDs.  The drawback to most is that they focus on one type of exercise such as Yoga and kickboxing. Even more limiting are the celebrity DVDs that focus only on one body part!  Now you can shed pounds and tone like a Hollywood A-lister with 10 DVDs and 10 “personal trainers in a box” from HealthyFitBodies.com.
Paying for a gym or health club membership these days can take more weight off your wallet than it does off your waist. “The average gym membership costs between $40 and $50 a month, but when you add the initiation fee, you’re looking at as much as $800 a year,” says Stephen Dubner and Steven Levitt, the authors of Freakonomics. They stated in The New York Times that, “People who buy annual gym memberships often overestimate how much they’ll actually use the facilities by 70%.”  With HealthyFitBodies.com you can trim the fat in your wallet and on your waist and get a year’s worth of value with a one time only purchase of $89.95. What’s even better is that you don’t have to leave your home to exercise.
The founders behind HealthyFitBodies.com have collaborated with the best trainers nationwide to provide one DVD set, offering fitness enthusiasts a dream team of personal trainers in a box.  The Top Trainers program is designed to constantly challenge you and your body.  The program uses the “blend method” offering workouts from multiple fitness disciplines. By blending all different techniques for weight loss they have created the optimal mixture of exercises to have the maximum effectiveness.
With the BLEND METHOD, you will be challenged with workouts for:
Cardio                    Buns                       Latin Dance
Thighs                    Yoga                       Plyometrics
Core                       Ballet                      Interval Training
Abs                         Pilates                    Kickboxing
Each of the ten DVDs features a separate trainer with a specific workout routine. If you’re not in a Pilates mood and want to workout some frustration simply pop in the kickboxing DVD.  Feeling more Zen?  There’s the Yoga DVD. For those who want to spice things up, there is the Latin Dance DVD. The Top Trainers system gives people options and the opportunity to explore fitness routines they may not have tried.  Here’s a quick run down of what each of the DVDs features:
Lindsay Brin’s Shed Five Fast
Lindsay’s program gives you two different 30 minute workouts that are total body and balance toning exercises with bursts of energetic cardio.

Nutrisystem Nation- Week 1

I am almost done with my first week of Nurtisystem, and it has been very interesting!  I have to say it is a bit hard to get used to at first- I am a carb-queen, and those are BIG no-nos on this diet!  It’s a very different way of eating.  Honestly, I was hungry sometimes, and sometimes VERY hungry.  But after day 4, it was better.  Like all things, it takes getting used to, and no change is ever really easy, is it?

So.  The food is what you get in the mail- breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a dessert daily.  This, plus you can eat veggies, fruit, some dairy and proteins.  Everything but some of the veggies are in small, weighed, or measured quantities.  This is tough at first, but will help you with portion size and control in the long run.  Remember- we didn’t get overweight because we DON’T like to eat, am I right?  LOL

I love food- so it’s good to be re-trained after all these years.  The food ranges- you are going to need to try a lot your first month to see what you like.  Breakfast has been good every day so far.  Better then I would have guessed, honestly!  Lunchtime has been rough, LOL.  Dinner has been touch and go- and desserts, again, better then I would have thought- twice, actually something I would be happy to eat while NOT dieting, LOL.

I will not lie and say its fabulous food fare- because you all know I love to cook, bake, and EAT- so, shelf stable food has it’s drawbacks in that department sometimes.  BUT- the payout?  I lost over 5 pounds so far- and it has not yet been a week!  Amazing, right?  No extreme exercise either- just what I normally do.  Fab, right?  I think it’s best to know what you are getting into before you do it- will I stay on Nutrisystem?  YOU BET!  Will I recommend it?  YOU BET!  It’s hard, and not always pleasant- but so it motherhood, and we all know that you have to take the good with the bad to get great results and be happy, right?

Two days ago I had a moment that was like- whoa!  I am actually FULL, and I feel really good!  My skin looks good, I feel more energetic…I think it’s starting to work!  It was my “aha!” moment- where I knew this would work.  Or felt confidant, anyway, LOL.

I can’t wait to tell you how it’s going and keep you updated- I’m excited.  I look better already- and more importantly- I feel better already!  Woot!

Losing Weight- a work in progress!

I think by now most of you know that I have been working on losing weight, and becoming more healthy. I used to be a model, and now….Body By Baby! Ugh, and I don’t want him to be an excuse, becuase he is four years old now, and I still have it on. Life just gets away from us, doesn’t it? I want my body back- and I am ready and willing to work for it! I was never a girl that could eat whatever she wanted- I always had to be cafeful, eat right, and work out daily. I used to run 3-7 miles five times a week, and was a gym rat. I have no aspirations of working out that hard again- I don’t have that sort of time anymore, I’m a mom! I have kids, a job, school, this site, etc. But I want to feel comfortable in my own skin, be as healthy as I can be, and honestly? I want to look better. Yes, it’s vain. Whatever, I’ll admit it. I want to bring my sexy back! There is a dress I love, and I want to wear it again.

SO! While I have lost 26 lbs since January of this year- and slipped a bit, put 4 back on, and took 2 off again, LOL- I have almost 52 more Lbs to go before I get to my goal wieght.

I don’t need to look like a 22 year old model, but that doesn’t mean I can’t look fab, right?

I’m starting Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Program this week. I am really nervous, but I am pretty good, usually, about sticking to a diet and exercise program once I am on it. I just want my body back, and with it? Some well deserved confidence. I’m freaking fabulous, so why not look it? LOL. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

Win Tribal Energy Cardio (workout and weightloss)

Tribal Energy Cardio– this video was so much fun to do!  One you can look forward to doing.  I’ve been tweeting about this one- I really liked it!  OK, not the most professional camerawork or sound- it was rocky at times, and had an echo-y sound once in a while- but you won’t notice much.  And like I said- it was fun to do.  Instructor Suzanne Forbes-Vierling was sunny, energetic, (while not being obnoxious) and broke everything down into slow motion for us for quite a few counts- great for non-dancers and beginners to working out (or those re-starting).

Workout One: (11 mins long) This is an add-on style workout, where you learn each step andbuild them together to create a complete dance routine. You will learn these steps at half time first, then do them at full speed.  Then- you add them together!  (see- great for “regular people”!)

Workout Two: (20 mins long) Another add-on style dance workout. Same basic ideas as above!

Workout Three: (7 mins long) This moves faster, ans is also more challenging You use the routines from workouts 1 and 2 here as well.

Grand Finale: (6 mins long) This is for when you have “mastered” the above three- because you do them all here, all together, with no cues from Suzanne.

Fun, and different, right?
Here is some more basic info on the video-
“Suzanne Forbes-Vierling presents adapted Western African dance movements that are achievable for the beginner and invigorating for all levels. Experience a total body workout while having fun and reconnecting with vital physical energy and an exuberance of spirit. Your core will be totally engaged. The live drumming rhythms are exhilarating and are sure to get the whole of your body moving.
Each workout is broken down so that learning is easy and you can grow at your own pace. Soon, you will be moving to the rhythms effortlessly. It’s so much fun you forget that it’s an intense cardio workout.
Go ahead, get your groove on, get fit and feel good while you rock the beat!”
The video can be bought on the website, and you can also win it here!

Get Fit America for Kids LIVE Contest- Win the DVD

I love this DVD for the kids at the Pre-K and in my own home- it’s great to have a physical activity to do on rainy days, in the winter, and just to relax and unwind together.  Because sometimes?  I just don’t want to go down the slide!  LOL  I have used this DVD at least weekly since I got it, and it has been a “go to” for me at the Pre-School.  Can I tell you?  When there is 20+ kids that need to go outside and can’t, this is a real saving grace for me!

Kids can learn some great heath and fitness ideas from this DVD, get on the path to staying active and healthy, and start out on the right foot- being active- or for those kids who need some motivation?  They can do so with the caring guidance of Mom/Dad and the instructor Scott Cole.   And you can learn with your child- this is a great opportunity for a  family activity, so join in!
My kids and class are aged 2.5 – 7, and only the 2 year olds were unable to follow.  But they had fun trying, and I think it is a great example for them to see.  Plus, they will learn the “moves” and exercises in time- plus it is a great way to start them out on the right foot- by watching older siblings, and mom and dad!  (Plus- Scott makes it fun- so your kids won’t dislike doing this!)
Get Fit America for Kids LIVE features active school assemblies with children of all ages (K-2nd, 3rd-5th, and 6th-8th) joyfully participating in Scott’s proven program of Yoga, Tai Chi, Cardio, Strength, Partnered Trust-Building, and Meditation, along with valuable educational tips and insights for each age group on HOW to motivate, teach, and MOVE children with mind/body exercise.

Get Fit America for Kids: Inspiring Conscious Happy Active Children

Get Fit America for Kids: Inspiring Conscious Happy Active Children

By Scott Cole

I have been working with children since 1986, and in those early years I worked
with suicide prevention teens in the Dallas area—to this date the toughest audience
in my career. I mention this because sometimes adults feel that a child may just
be “lost” and that what we are doing for them is perhaps not “breaking through” and
never will.

Believe me, that is a common feeling to have, and certainly faced with what we
see in America today—children who are morbidly obese, diabetic, medicated, and
experiencing ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), it is no wonder that
adults and parents feel frustrated, which seems to be pushing us farther from what
we need to be doing—and that is reversing this ugly sad uninspired trend of cutting
time and funds for music, art, and physical education.

I can share unequivocally that when given the chance to move, express, and learn
something new and different like Yoga and Tai Chi, children respond, not always
when and how you want them to, but trust me, the seeds are planted and these
mindful movement programs make a huge difference. By the end of my term with
the suicide prevention teens, I remember one girl coming up to me, hugging me
crying, “Don’t leave, I love it when you come see us.” I never forgot that.

Let us consider what are children are NOT getting:

1) Healthy, organic, soil-grown food that for the most part could prevent adult-
onset diabetes and obesity.

2) Movement in all forms: Dance, Yoga, Tai Chi, Physical Education and PLAY
every day. Children NEED to breathe, move, express, scream, and ultimately
experience healthy quiet time.

3) Nature Experience: Outdoors, or certainly learning about Nature
through “field trips” as we used to call them.

4) Healthy levels of TOUCH, both from adults and their peers. Activities that
involve touch and physical/social communication are needed now more than
ever as children bury their heads in video games, computers, cell phones,
instead of looking into the eyes of their friends and touching each other in
healthy play or activity.

5) Support at home and in school: The United States is #36 on the longevity list
worldwide (tied with Cuba according to the United Nations list), and is the
most obese nation on Earth. This translates into adults who have the same
issues in charge of making decisions to prevent the current generation from

having the problems we have.

America’s current in-home and educational landscape isn’t coming close to any
viable solution until concerned adults (WE) take charge of it at ALL levels.

Let us consider addressing what children today NEED:

1) First off, we need to make it MANDATORY that organic REAL food is served
in schools, and have the children take an active part in learning about food,
crops, and conscious farming. No more corn subsidized fructose corn syrup in
drinks and fruit cocktails, no more packaged nutrient-less slop, no more low-
quality after-thought beef and chicken fingers, and all soda machines should be
eliminated. Not the most popular decision I know, but AMERICA IS ADDICTED
to this “STUFF” that isn’t real food, and our bodies are in rebellion. If children
had normal levels of blood sugar, and are not doctored up by medication or
addictive fast-food and sugars, ADHD would be reduced and we would start to
see healthy alert, active children re-emerging. The problem arises in budget and
corporations that bid for these contracts, promising more for less dollars, and
inevitably it is about profit, not about providing great food for our kids.

If anything should be subsidized by the government, it should be food
for our public schools, but organized by a non-corporate committee of
nutritionists, parents, organic farmers, and educators.

2) Next, we need to implement all forms of movement and PE in schools: Yoga,
Tai Chi, Sports, Kickball, and Creative Play. We just need to get our kids moving
and playing again! Whoever decided that eliminating PE would make our
children “study more” has never dealt with children. Once children play, emote,
and express, they are more likely to actually WANT to sit down and read a book,
study, or be quiet.

3) Children need to learn more about their surroundings, from farming to crops
to geography to nature. Whenever I do the Get Fit America in-school assemblies,
I teach barefoot, and if allowed by the school, the children are allowed to take
their shoes off too. This ALONE is a big adventure that gets the children excited
to play and learn. It still amazes me that something so natural and simple is not
the norm anymore. We talk about feeling the earth, listening to and becoming
aware of Nature, and how our bodies are designed to touch and feel through the
feet and hands, all incorporated with the movement and exercise.

4) Touch is vital for any person. Touch deprivation can contribute to depression,
loneliness, and anti-social behavior that can manifest in a lifetime of discomfort
around others. After I have the children moving for awhile in the school
assemblies, I then introduce a Partnered section of the program where the
children get to touch, do mirrored-image movement, and learn to stretch and

trust each other. I tell them, “If you let go of your partner you are letting go of
yourself.” Most of them get the lesson.

5) Adults need to do their part and understand that even if we don’t get the
lessons of healthy living, it is VITAL for us to make choices that will influence our
children for the better.

American obesity is an addiction, and adult onset diabetes is preventable, so
unless we want to watch people age, become medically dependent, become
lethargic, depressed, and inactive, then we need to turn this big ship around and
get back on course to dock in an environment that will have clean pure water,
organic healthy food, mindful exercise and creative encouragement as standard
fuel for a healthy life.

Parents, teachers, educators, and concerned adults need to play an active part in
each community, as part of an expressive society that both honors and cherishes
our children enough to give them the tools to become the healthiest, most
mindful, articulate, compassionate generation ever.
