Top 10 Must-Have Items When Traveling With Kids

Traveling with your kids is one of the most fun family activities. But it’s not so easy to have a successful trip when your toddlers are with you.

However, good preparation and toddler-proof plan can help you out in this case. Taking your kids with you adds so many extra baby items in your backpack. Even parents often get haphazard while deciding what to take with them and what not.

Are you also in a situation like that? No worries, we have come with a list of top 10 must-have baby items to travel with.

Here is the list for you to get you out of confusion. Check it out.

The 10 Essentials Items That You Should Take While Travelling with Your kids

  1. A Lightweight Baby Bag

There are so many baby items you need to take with you on the trip. And so, you need a separate spacious baby bag. But the baby bag shouldn’t be heavy as you have to carry your own bag also. Make sure it’s light in weight and can carry enough items.

  1. Diapers and Nappies

These two items are the most important. Make sure you have enough diapers and nappies to keep your baby dry. Especially, if your baby is less than 1, you must have plenty of these items with you. Besides, you can take wet-tissues with you to get your baby clean instantly.

  1. Baby Car Seat Stroller

It’s quite inconvenient to carry both a car seat and a stroller for your baby. So, it’s wise to get a stroller that can be used as a car seat too.

  1. Blanket

Having a blanket can save your baby from cold. Also, it helps greatly to make your baby fall asleep when he is in your lap.

  1. Snacks

Forgetting other items may not get you in big trouble but if you forget to take snacks with you, be ready to tolerate the bad mood of your kid. Especially, when he is hungry. Late flights, traffic jams, other problems can increase the traveling time. So, you must get snacks for your kids to fight their hunger.

  1. Baby Monitor

On a trip, it is equally important to keep monitoring your baby. But carrying an extra gadget like a baby monitor unit can be troublesome. Baby monitor for iPhone can be the perfect solution here. Just download an app and turn your iPhone into an effective baby monitor. It will give you the opportunity of keeping your baby within your sight.

  1. Baby Headphone

Baby headphones are awesome. With a baby headphone, your baby can enjoy videos, movies, and cartoons perfectly. Also, with this device, your kid can enjoy his time without disturbing other passengers.

  1. Sippy Cup

You must get a sippy cup to let your baby drink water, juice or milk to be hydrated all the time. Kids need to drink more often than an adult. So, a sippy cup is a must.

  1. Toys

You must take some toys to distract your kid when he is in a bad mood. With his favorite toys, he can enjoy his time with joy. Include baby pouch on this list.

  1. Baby Toilet Seat

While traveling you won’t have any idea about the toilet condition so it’s better to have a baby toilet seat with you. Get a small size portable toilet seat to carry it comfortably.

Verdict

These are the top 10 must-haves for baby traveling. Besides, have a first aid box to ensure the better protection of your baby. Wear your baby a smartwatch to track him anytime and let him roam around to enjoy the new place. Lastly, don’t forget to take a trash collector to keep the environment clean.

Have a happy trip with your kids.

How to Choose Children’s Clothing

Today we have Emma to write a guest post for us. Emma is the CEO at Kimi Dog, the wholesale children’s clothing company. She knows everything about children’s clothing.

Hi, I’m Emma Today I’m going to talk about how to choose children’s clothing.

When you have a baby, it seems that your baby is the most important thing in your life. You need to feed your baby, change your baby’s diapers, and your baby doesn’t seem to have a break for 24 hours. For many years to come, your child may be the most important thing in your life. Also, you need to buy a lot of things for your child. One of them is children’s clothing.

Your children’s clothes are different from your own, so you need to know how to choose clothes for your children.

You’ll know how to choose and how to save money on children’s clothing after reading this article.

Let’s get started!

Comfort is the most important

For Kids, comfort is the priority. Your children will look great in slim shirts, but they also suffer from stiff collars. When choosing clothes for your children, choose loose casual clothes or activewear. These clothes not only comfortable but also meet the needs of children’s activities. Leggings are also a good choice for girls. They are tight but comfortable.

What fabric should you choose

Choosing the right fabrics is not only about comfort but also about durability. Most kids love activities or sports. So think about what fabrics to choose for them to wear during activities and games. Parents all like natural fabrics, there is no problem with it. However, I wouldn’t say the synthetic fabric is a bad choice. What natural fabrics are suitable for children’s clothing? Cotton, linen, wool, and so on. These fabrics are natural and comfortable. If you want something more natural, you can go organic, but it’s also more expensive. Sometimes, though, synthetic fabrics are a good choice. Synthetic fabrics have many advantages that natural materials don’t have. So for some clothes such as hardshell jackets and jerseys, synthetic fabrics must be the better choice. Blended fabrics are also something you need to know. They are the best of both worlds. For example, Cotton/Polyester blends. With the breathability of cotton and the durability of polyester. And because of polyester is blended, it’s cheaper. In short, choose different fabrics for different purposes.

Buy a size up

The speed with which children grow can surprise and sometimes catch us off guard, and last year’s clothes probably didn’t fit. If you want everything to last longer, buy clothes that are bigger for your kids. But one size too big is enough, two sizes too big, children wear uncomfortable.

Don’t forget to consider quality

Quality is an essential factor when choosing children’s clothing. When children play and do activities, they will inevitably pull clothes, and if the quality is not good enough, other children may break their clothes. How do you know if a piece of clothing is of good quality? One is the fabric, and the other is the stitching. Yohe clothes, generally speaking, excellent fabrics are soft and strong. It’s easy to judge the quality by stitching. High-quality clothes have eave and dense stitches, and the stitches must be straight.

Choose good styles to make your kids happy

Is style important when choosing children’s clothes? Of course, it matters. Who doesn’t want their kids to be cute? If you have older kids, you can even let your kids pick out their clothes. However, comfort is the most important, if a piece of clothing looks good but not comfortable enough, then forget it.

SCREEN TIME APP – CHILDREN’S BRAIN CHANGES BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE TIME BEFORE SCREENS, ACCORDING TO STUDY

The brain of children who spend too much time before screens of smart devices or video games seems to be modified, according to a study by the National Institute of Health (NIH) released a few days ago by the CBS network.

In 21 research centers, the NIH began examining the brains of 4,500 children of 9 and 10 years old to know if the intense consumption of video games and the time they spend on the Internet influences their development.

The first results of this study with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) show significant differences in the brain of children who use smartphones, tablets and video games more than seven hours a day, explained one of the researchers, Gaya Dowling in the program “60 Minutes”.

The images showed a premature thinning of the cerebral cortex or cortex, which processes the information sent to the brain by the five senses.

The thinning of the cortex “is considered an aging process,” said the scientist, noting that it was not clear if this process is harmful. “We still do not know if it’s due to the time spent in front of the screens, or if it’s a bad thing,” he said.

According to another scientist interviewed in the program, Kara Bagot, smartphones can have an addictive effect because the time spent in front of a screen stimulates the release of dopamine, the pleasure hormone.

The NIH data showed that children who spent more than two hours per day on screens had worse language and reasoning tests.

For the research, 11,000 children were examined, who will be followed for several years to study the impact of the screens on their intellectual and social development, as well as their health.

Discussing the results of the study, many tech experts agree to the precaution that a limit should be imposed on kids’ screen time. One great way of doing that is using the screen time app such as FamilyTime that enables parents to monitor the activities of their kids on screen and also help to measure the time of use of the tablet, so that the educational and training use can be balanced.

The perk of this parental control app is that  you can define time slots in which your kids can use the screen and during other hours, the screen gets locked automatically. Another nice feature of the app is the application monitoring accompanied with the ability to block or limit app usage with features such as app lock and screen time limits. There are many more features that you can check out yourself. All you need to do is visit the app store on your phone and get the app from there or simply hit the links given below.

Shopping for kids: The stress-free guide

As most adults will testify, nothing quite beats a touch of retail therapy. It’s something that most of us crave, but life responsibilities tend to mean that it doesn’t happen anywhere near enough as it should. When it comes to children, shopping doesn’t quite have the same appeal. Instead, it’s regarded as one of the most frustrating pastimes around – even if the experience is geared to their requirements!

Unfortunately, kids need clothes – and these shopping trips are a necessity. Today’s article is, therefore, going to focus on some of the best tips you can implement to ensure that the day is as stress-free as possible, while still ensuring that you come out of it with plenty of suitable garments for your little one.

There’s no one-fits-all rule

There’s no doubt that the internet shopping era has made life a whole lot easier. However, there is a debate as to whether this approach is really going to work when it comes to choosing appropriate kid’s clothes.

Unfortunately, not all brands are equal when it comes to size. What might be classed as suitable for a 5-year-old in one shop is more like a 3-year-old’s in another. It means that unless you know a brand inside-out, you need to ask your child to try most things on. It might mean a trip to the shops in Covent Garden or your local area of choice, but it will be worth the time.

Make shopping into a game

Of course, there’s one issue with the above suggestion – shopping with kids can be quite difficult. As we’ve already spoken about, it can be difficult to convince your little ones to venture to the high-street and even when you do, battling through sulky faces can make for a difficult afternoon.

This is where you need to get creative. All children enjoy games, and this is the path you need to turn to if you are serious about keeping everyone happy. This doesn’t have to be an extravagant game by any stretch of the imagination; it might be as simple as asking your little one to see who can be the first to see ten different pieces of red clothing.

And then – the reward factor

As adults, clothes are a sufficient reward. Suffice to say; the same philosophy doesn’t apply with kids. Going out and shopping for clothes is a boring exercise, and this means that you need to build rewards into the day. Again, these rewards don’t have to be significant; it might be an ice-cream if they can get through a couple of hours of shopping moan-free. Or, it might be nipping off to the arcade. In other words, find out what makes your child tick (sometimes it’s not rewards), and try and motivate them this way.

Pick your moments

Finally, some days are more suited to these trips than others. If you know that your child is tired, opting for a shopping extravaganza probably isn’t going to end well for anyone. Yes, you do need to compromise with your plans, but this can make the final result much more fruitful for you all as a family. Spending time together in this way might even help you to bond in the long term.

The New Mojobot Available Now on Kickstarter

It may seem that board games are becoming a thing of the past, as most kids these days would rather play video games or apps. As parents, we can use this technology to help our kids learn and develop skills that they will be able to use in our tech-driven world.

The new Mojobot is the world’s first tangible coding robot and board game that makes it easy for adults and kids to learn the core principles of coding and robotics.

Mojobot is a multiplayer game where players compete to undertake Missions and earn star points. It is equipped with many features such as lights, sounds, sensors, motion, and actions. Mojobot can even pick up tokens, carry them around and deliver them to different locations. It allows kids to get away from the screens and have a hands-on experience learning a valuable skill while having fun at the same time. And the best part is that the whole family can enjoy it together – it’s great for ages 4-99+.

The Mojobot is available now for backing on Kickstarter. The Mojobot Basic Kit includes the Mojobot robot and the Main Console as well as the coding tags, cards, tokens, storybook, map, and charging cables. You also have the option to purchase the Mojobot Extension Kit which will get you an extension console, logic coding tags, additional cards, a book, and a paper origami box.

Basic Info About Mojobot

Mojobot picks up Tokens using a magnet and solenoid actuator. For communication with the Console there is a Bluetooth chip. The robot uses the differential drive and has two wheels and motors for navigation. Mojobot has a microphone which can record sounds and also act as a sound level sensor. The recorded sounds can be played back using its speakers.  Mojobot’s eyes are LEDs that can show different expressions. The tail light can be commanded and changed to different colors. In front of Mojobot there are infrared sensors that can detect distance and presence of objects. Mojobot has infrared navigation sensors that ensure that Mojobot will always move correctly to each location in the map. The infrared sensors will detect the marked square pattern on the corner of each block in the map. This means you can code Mojobot to move in an infinite square loop and still keep its correct position.

Tangible Coding

Tangible coding solutions have been shown to be more effective for teaching, as it is more attractive and easier to play than alternative screen based coding. Having physical coding pieces that kids can touch and feel helps to improve their engagement and memory. Coding and computational thinking is an essential skill for our present time and will be even more important as we progress into the future.

Managing a Major Move with Young Children

A major move can be really stressful for anyone. If you’d like to make it even more challenging, add a few young children to the equation. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to successfully complete a move, keep your children entertained and maintain a sense of peace. There are a few tips you’ll want to employ as you move forward. Consider these four.

1. Plan ahead.
You don’t need to hire someone to help you clean out boxes if you do it in advance. If you decide that you’d like to move in the next year, begin to declutter. Don’t wait until you’re two months away. Take time to go through boxes to throw items away and sell things. If you’re able to put yourself in a position to tackle one box a day, you’ll be in great shape. Wait until the kids go down to bed. Spend thirty minutes to an hour on one box, closet or area. You’d be surprised how much you can tackle within a few months when you dedicate a little bit of time each day. Plus, you would’ve done all of this while the children were asleep. Use your phone or a calendar to keep yourself on track.

2. Create an organized schedule.
When things begin to get a little hectic in the days before the move, find ways to create a schedule for the children. Most children (and adults) thrive on routines. Knowing this, create a schedule for them. Once they get out of school, give them different activities to work on each hour. If they decide that they’d like to spend more time on a particular task, this is fine. After all, the goal is to keep them occupied. Activities like painting, coloring and other arts projects are great for creativity. If your children love puzzles, set up a station for puzzles and popcorn. As dinnertime gets closer, they can enjoy dinner and a good movie. As you’re able to finish up your moving tasks, you can join them.

3. Consider hiring a babysitter.
A babysitter is a godsend when you’re trying to get the children out of the house while you manage errands and more. Sometimes, it can be stressful to stay on top of everyone’s schedule and a move. If you know that your children are in the care of someone you trust, you’ll be fine. Plus, a babysitter isn’t just helpful for the times when you’re taking care of moving details. A babysitter is helpful when you’d like to get away from all of the chaos to take a break. At least once a week, make sure you’re doing something to pour back into yourself. Meet up with a friend to enjoy a delicious lunch. Head over to the salon to get your nails done. Go to the spa to receive a nice massage. Whatever helps you to unwind and maintain a sense of calm is good to include. Once you incorporate the elements of self-care with a major move, you’ll be able to approach the situation with a clear and peaceful perspective.

4. Hire movers for the big day.
When you have to do a lot of heavy lifting, it’s very easy to get exhausted, flustered and frustrated. This is why it’s best to hire a great moving company to take care of the heavy lifting. When you’re moving local, many people assume that you don’t necessarily need the help of professional movers. Though you might not be driving across the country, your furniture still needs to get from Point A to Point B. Plus, movers are really beneficial because they lift heavy items for a living. They understand how to properly manage and lift without causing damage to their bodies. If you try to lift the couch and load it onto a moving truck, you could pull a muscle or put too much pressure on your back if you don’t do it properly. Don’t put yourself in a position to harm yourself. Plus, while the professional movers are taking care of the heavy items, you can spend time with your children in the other room.

If you don’t make a plan, you’re asking for a chaotic experience. If the move is unexpected and you have no choice but to make things happen quickly, consider getting help from people you trust. Close family members and friends can either babysit or take over parts of the move so that you’re not as stressed. Before long, you’ll be settled in your new place with the kids in tow.
