Becky’s Real BBQ

Becky’s Real BBQ in Middletown, RI, is some of the best BBQ I have ever had (and this girl has had some).

BBQ

When we showed up for dinner, they were (very sadly) nearly out of their entire menu- I’m guessing it was a good day, business wise.  However, what we had would keep us coming back again and again- it was pure BBQ perfection. Foodies and Fans of the pit and smoker rejoice, and flock to this friendly joint.  The prices were more then reasonable, as well.  Just call ahead to make sure they have food left before you get in the car.

Tammy Trent’s New CD ‘Sunny Days’

Disclosure: The Tammy Trent CD, ‘Sunny Days’ was provided to me to help facilitate my review. All opinions are my own and honest. I am disclosing this in accordance to FTC Guidelines. Please see “Disclose” tab for more information.

Tammy Trent

I am a huge fan of music, especially Christian music. I was so happy to see that Tammy Trent had a new cd, and I was even more excited to be able to try it out ahead of it’s release day on August 6th.

About Tammy Trent:

Tammy has been a familiar voice on Christian radio stations since 1995. Some of her hits include “My Irreplaceable” and “Welcome Home”. She stepped out of the spotlight in 2001 after the tragic death of her husband in a diving accident. She then returned as a featured speaker and performer at Women of Faith conferences in 2003. Tammy spent 4 years with Women of Faith, and was also a featured speaker and performer on their Revolve Tour for teen girls, for 2 years.

She is the author of Learning to Breath Again: Choosing Life and Finding Hope After A Shattering Loss, Beyond the Sorrow: There’s Hope in the Promises of God, and she also co-wrote the very funny Children’s Potty Training Book, The Log Family: See You at the Beach with her late husband Trent Lenderink, who sadly never got to see this project completed.

Real Kids Shades – Kids Sunglasses

Eye protection is just as important as skin protection.  Skin cells can regenerate after damage from  the sun, while cells in the lens of a human eye are permanently damaged.  And with this horrifying fact, we now look at the line or products by Real Kids Shades to keep your little ones safe.

These sunglasses take eye protection to a serious level, while still being built tough and durable for kids.  Usually kids sunglasses take a lighthearted approach to eye protection.  Bright colored rims and dark lenses in cartoon character shapes, add in a big price tag, and call it a day.  RKS (Real Kids Shades) take a  different approach- not only are their glasses provide 100% UVA and UVB protection but they are also  durable, comfortable, and carry a warranty.  The lenses are made of a tough polycarbonate which are both shatterproof and impact resistant.

The Value of Written Word – Chronicle Books

Reading can be both the most rewarding of experiences as well as one of the most frustrating when learning at the same time.  When people are first learning to read, no matter what the age, it can seem like an unattainable goal.  This can be awkward at best, but the “Ah-ha!” moment is absolutely wonderful to witness.  Recently Little Man had this moment and it was crazy to see the light in his eyes glow bright as he realized how much power reading and spelling had.

As usual my wife and I were trying to convey a secret message via spelling the words out across the room as Little Man was there  about some possibilities for dinner.  These conversations usually involve a lot of spelling.  Dad saying, “Whats for d-i-n-n-e-r?”  Mom replying, ” He wants p-i-z-z-a”. At this point there would be some thought or discussion between adults but instead Little Man inserts a, “YEAH I WANT PIZZA!”  To which Dad replies with an open mouth and Mom replies with a cry of happiness. Little Man literally jumps for joy and says, “I can read!! Pizza! Pizza! Pizza!”  Mom and Dad were both very proud of him and have been hoping for this spark of realization for a long time.  So this event was very fulfilling for all involved, especially Little Man.  Of course Little Man got his wish and pizza was soon ordered.
