The Royal Wedding – William & Catherine (available on DVD)

Can you ever get enough?  for me- I know I can’t!
As a history buff, I just can’t get enough Will and Kate, and I am so thrilled to see that the BBC has produced and made available this fabulous DVD, The Royal Wedding – William & Catherine, available as of 5/24.   I was so, so excited to see it, and I totally DVRed the whole thing, from start to finish, since I was going to be working that day.  But what what a fabulous memento, a keepsake forever for the wedding of the century!
I was so excited to see it, and I have to say that when I finally did, I did cry, they looked so happy.  I hate when I do things like that, LOL.  (BAH, acting like such a hot mess!)
Did you see that they went into the back of the cathedral, to sign their names into the marriage log book?  Where all the other kings and queens had signed their names?  AHHHH, can you imagine?!!  That’s wild- I just want to see it!  Forever- your name in history.
There is also a great pre-wedding glimpse into their lives, into their engagement and dating, which we as Americans may not know much about.  It lets us get to know a bit about Kate who becomes Catherine, and reminds us of Prince William’s life. (Kate and I have the same birthday- fun fact- same date, exactly, lol.
Of course, I don’t wear a size 2 or marry a crowned price, but hey- I will take what I can get, haha.)

“Join HRH Prince William and Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey as they celebrate the momentous occasion of their marriage. Relive and treasure their special day with this souvenir DVD, containing two hours of coverage from the BBC.
This wonderful keepsake will capture all the pomp and pageantry of the historic occasion like no other memento. The DVD will include the complete ceremony plus highlights from the official BBC pre- and post-wedding coverage, and the bonus program, “William and Kate: A Royal Engagement,” presenting the story of William and Kate’s relationship via interviews with colleagues, friends and family. Lovers of the crown will want to own this special, commemorative DVD of this most delightful of events, the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.”
You can buy this fab DVD for the  AMAZING price of $7.98.  WHAT?  Really- that’s a total bargain.  Check it out, this is a fabulous buy that you will treasure for years to come.  Forever!
Happy History!  🙂

Got Pirates on the Brain? A Totally Twisted Review

With all the Pirates of the Caribbean whhhoooo-ha!  and not to mention it was hard to resist- being as “Twisted” of a scavenger as I am…but I love this costume.  Perfect!  (And really- who doesn’t love a good pirate costume?)

Last year’s Halloween party at the Pre-k was so much FUN!  Little Man was Iron Man, the kids all looked adorable, and I….didn’t have a good costume to wear.  LOL.  I have a few costumes, but, none that I would wear to a PreSchool.  One is too expensive (medieval garb, and was really, really expensive- did I say REALLY enough?) so there was no way I was going to let the kiddos near that one while I am schlepping sippy cups of bright red juice and chocolate candy.  No way.  One is from my “former life” with my former body…doesn’t fit (yet!)
So….I kind of patched one together.
This year, I am going to look fab for the party- and appropriate! Wholesale Costume Club  has tons of costumes, and I love that they come in a variety of sizes.  For those of us above a size 8, one size never “Fits All”.  I so hate that!  I’d rather see the plus size costumes then try to squeeze into something that just isn’t going to happen.  Or, if you have a chest, good luck finding something that fits, that doesn’t make you look quite…inappropriate.  Lets go with that.

Swanson Contest

What’s up, all?  What is more fun then being healthy and happy?  Being healthy, happy, AND having soft skin of course!  There are some great products at Swanson health products.  First we cover the healthy, with Resveratrol 100.  Resveratrol is a powerful herbal anti-oxidant.  What this means is, when taken it helps naturally slow down the aging process of cells.  Meaning it helps you feel younger/be younger one cell at a time.  This product is all natural and also important, isn’t a giant pill that is difficult to swallow or tastes bad an hour after eaten, I’m looking at you multiple vitamin.  It just makes you feel a little better.:)
Now some fun stuff.  Alpha Lipoic Acid, Olive Oil & DMAE Hand & Body Lotion is a wonderful lotion.  The lotion is based on surprise olive oil and also soybean oil.  This lotion is very smooth and rubs right in getting your skin silky smooth.  Works especially well right after the shower.  Now something for the everyday skin care, Red Elements Daily Moisturizing Creme.  This cream not only moisturizes but also protects with spf 15.  I’ll say this right now i think all daily facial creams should have spf at least 5 in them.  The higher the better, and spf 15 is just the right number to get a little warm glow without burning or glowing in the dark from your lack of pigment.
Alright all one more before your bed time rituals, this one is Vegecol Facial Toner Alcohol-Free.  This toner acts as a cleanser, soother and light moisturizer.  What I like about this is, no alcohol burn.  Just a light pleasant fragrance and an effective toner.
Okie dokie so there you have it, some great healthy products that won’t break the bank and work really well.  By the way if you order now, there is a flat rate $4.99 shipping promotion going on right now AND buy 1 get 1 on most products.  Enjoy everyone!
One of you will win a 10$ gift certificate to use at Swanson.

Win Cranberry Cystex

(Review by Daddy, who gets UTI’s on the regular)
OK everyone, time to talk about something we all hate-   Urinary tract Infections.  If you don’t hate them, you’ve never had one.  Alright so those of you still with me who haven’t closed the page not wanting to relive the nightmare of their last one, thanks for staying.  Now onto the secret to not getting one again.  It’s called cranberries,  and not just any cranberries, you need about 8 glasses of cranberry juice a day.  Now you may be asking- eight? are you kidding? that is ridiculous, I barely drink eight glasses of anything a day.  Well a new product has just been released called Cystex Liquid Cranberry Complex.  This wonderful little product concentrates the benefits of eight glasses of cranberry juice into one tablespoon.  Then adds some extra vitamin C, some natural bacteria inhibitors, immune system boosters and even prebiotics.  This mix works very well at staving off UTI’s.  I personally have gotten a few in my life time and welcome a way to not have them come back.  More importantly, my daughter gets them semi-often, doctor says its normal, I say we can do better then that.  Since she has been taking Cystex cranberry complex, the complaints have lessened and she seems a bit happier.  Hooray!!! Happy kids are fun kids.  Or at least more fun to be around when they aren’t talking about how it hurts when they pee.

Cystex is even gluten, lactose and SUGAR free.  That’s right no sugar, but it  is still very drinkable and incredibly good for you.  Definitely a keeper ladies.  I really like how this product isn’t out to completely replace a regular doctor, just keep us healthier and less prone to theses nasty things.
Here are some ideas on preventing UTI’s.

KinderBike

My 3 year old son is just learning how to ride a bike.  He is not great with pedals, and they frustrate him.  He almost always ends up scooting along on his trike, which also causes the pedals to spin and whack the backs of his legs.  We took the pedals off of his plastic bike, which made it easier for him.  But recently, I came across something much better!  The KinderBike.  The KinderBike comes in lots of colors and sizes, so you will find one that is perfect for your little one.  It has no pedals at all, nor does it have a 3rd wheel or training wheels.  Why?  So your peanut can learn to balance and glide along on the bike.  They won’t drag thier feet scooting along (also wearing out thier shoes, thank you very much), they won’t have pedals smacking thier legs, and because there are only two wheels, they will begin to find the balance that they need in order to work thier way up to a “big kid” regular old two-wheeler bike in no time at all.
Little Man just loves his KinderBike, and so do all the kids at the PreK.  One of the moms loved it so much, that she went home and got one as soon as she saw it.  She, like me, thought it was the best idea ever to learn to ride a bike.  Her son also realy enjoyed playing on Little Man’s bike very much, and brought his in to show it off right away!  LOL, kids.

Here is a bit more info on the KinderBike

KinderBike® has changed very little since it’s inception on the banks of the Isar River, in the tiny Bavarian village of Lenggries, Germany in 2004.  Heinz Petzold gave his grandson Luke a laufrad (run bike) for his second birthday and KinderBike was born.  KinderBike introduced the first run bikes to the North American market in 2005.  Since then, hundreds of thousands of young riders – some as young as 18 months – have fine tuned their balance, coordination and agility and learned to ride.
KinderBike afforded parents a mechanism to get their kids outside and active as they glided along side of them on short walks.  KinderBike’s commitment to quality bolstered it’s reputation and encouraged both traditional bicycle retailers and parents to ditch training wheels in favor of this “balance-first” method.  Since then, the “balance-first” method has been widely accepted as the most effective way to teach young children to ride a bike and has spurred a host of imitators.
Today, KinderBike remains the leading manufacturer of high-end trainers and is widely regarded as the leading innovator of quality balance trainers.

The Adventure of English book review

I just finished reading The Adventure of English.
Fabulous reading!  It’s a little “dry”, but really- if you like history or languages at all, check it out and pick it up.  The author, Robert McCrum, wrote this book to go along with the 8 part History Channel Series of the same name.  I really want to see the series, it is said to be more thorough then the book (well, yeah!  With 8 parts and visuals, you know I want to see it!)  I keep begging my DVR to record it- but alas, so far, it has not shown up on air  🙁
Back to the book- which I loved!  I was so excited to read this one.  It is how the English language started (and what humble beginnings!) and how it spread and grew to become one of the most dominant languages in the world today.  Who used it, who influenced it, and why.  It was super interesting, and as a history geek, there was so much I didn’t know that I was excited to learn about.
I have always loved history, and it was so interesting to read about how travel and trade, war and peace, religion and colonization all influenced the language that we speak.
Here is some more info for all you nerdy folk out there- stand proud, ladies and gents!  🙂

This compelling and charmingly personal companion to an eight-part television documentary (scheduled for the fall) makes for an idiosyncratic rival to PBS’s bestselling blockbuster The Story of English, by Robert McCrum et al. Titling a history of the evolution and expansion of a language an “adventure” presupposes a hero, with such obvious choices as Alfred the Great, for defeating the Danes; Chaucer, for his Canterbury Tales; Shakespeare, for his poetic inventiveness; or Samuel Johnson, for his groundbreaking dictionary. Bragg, a British TV and radio personality and novelist (The Soldier’s Return), gives all their contributions their due, but English itself, with its “deep obstinacy” and “astonishing flexibility,” emerges as his favorite character. Bragg’s enthusiasm for his subject-hero, whether the Old English of Beowulf or the new “Text English” of the Internet, makes up for his shortcomings as a linguist: his sources, unfootnoted, are at times at variance with the OED or Webster’s Third. For instance, Bragg furnishes only one putative origin for the disputed “real McCoy.” Moreover “candy” does not seem to have Anglo-Indian origins (it’s from the Arabic “qandi”), and the first recorded use of “vast” is not from Shakespeare (the OED cites Archbishop Edwin Sandys). Nevertheless, this “biography” succeeds in its broad, sweeping narrative, carrying the reader from the origins of Anglo-Saxon through the Viking and Norman invasions to the consolidation of “British” English and outward to America, Australia, India, the West Indies and beyond. After some 1,500 years, with one billion speakers now worldwide, according to Bragg, the English language has displayed an amazing ability to repair and reinvent itself, as Bragg ably shows. 32 pages of color illus.

POM Wonderful Juice Review and coupon

Why is POM Wonderful juice so good?  Well for one it is a little sour and sweet, not syrupy-sweet, just refreshing.  It is also a perfect thirst quencher when you need something different yet not insanely weird. POM is pomegranate juice.  It is naturally sweet and sour at the same time.  Is great by itself and is even healthy and good for you.  POM Wonderful full of good stuff- like anti-oxidants and vitamin C.  The kids really like it too.  The little guy loves goes nuts for POM (he calls it Pom Pom juice).  He also loves fresh pomegranate- but that is impossible to get year round.    I buy him POM Wonderful the 10 months of the year when I can’t get pomegranates  🙂  The only real drawback is it can be a little pricey.
Another great characteristic of it is it mixes great with vodka, which Daddy is making me put in “for the grown-ups”.   🙂   He insists this is vital information for you to have, and that I as a non-drinker do not know what I am missing.
By the way- they are a very “green” company, and here are a few ways that they work to make the world a better place!
POM Wonderful is a global brand committed to innovation and wellness. We grow and market pomegranates and pomegranate-based products that are healthy, honest and essential to the well-being of humankind.
Ours is the only company that grows, harvests, processes and ships our own pomegranates. Plus, we’re the only pomegranate company that has provided over $34M in funding to support scientific research on Wonderful variety pomegranate products at top institutions around the globe.
POM Wonderful’s commitment to wellness also means caring about the well-being of our planet. Our sustainable business practices include:
• Using the latest drip-irrigation technologies in our orchards to minimize use of one of California’s scarcest resources – water.
• Making productive use of every single part of the pomegranate. What’s left over is used as cattle feed – no landfills for us!
• Manufacturing our bottles right next to our filling plant, which means no wasteful transportation of air-filled bottles.
• Employing an intelligent routing system to ensure our products travel the fewest miles possible to reach store shelves.

Make sure you head on over and print out your coupon before buying your bottles! Yay for saving  🙂
Don’t forget to follow POM Wonderful on Twitter and Facebook as well and keep up with the latest POM news!
