Jumbies- Review and Contest

We recently received 2 Jumbies to review, Tyramasaurus and Zelephant. Jumbies are animals that were involved in a mix up by some very busy and disheveled storks.  Now that these Jumbies are here- they need homes!  Does anyone have a home for a cute little Jumbie or two?

A Jumbies Story

There were more babies being born than ever before.
The storks had to deliver them from shore to shore
There was so much to do they had little time for rest.
They flew to America, Europe, Antarctica and down under.
They went to Africa and Asia trying not to blunder.
It began to get very confusing on where they had to go.
Some storks turned left when they should have turned right.
Some storks flew all day when they should have flown at night.
Then in began to happen in a flash! One by one they started to CRASH!!
The babies were fine but the storks did not know what to say.
When the storks crashed and tumbled, it appeared all the animal babies were jumbled!
The storks could not believe their eyes. These babies were quite a surprise
So they called them JUMBiES
And  they became a new breed!

My Little Man really enjoys these.  They have been compared to Beanie Babies- but they don’t really seem like Beanie Babies to me.   I think Jumbies are their own thing.  They are cute, palm-sized toys, and they are collectible, but that is where it ends.  They are also interesting, because they are all “jumbled up”.  And what kid doesn’t love a silly toy?
One lucky reader will win 2 Jumbies to add to or start a collection.

My Name is Not Alexander (Review)

My Name Is Not Alexander
About the Author:

Jennifer Fosberry is a science geek turned children’s book writer and author of the New York Times Bestseller My Name Is Not Isabella. After working in the high-tech industry in Silicon Valley and running away to Costa Rica for a few years, she returned to the San Francisco Bay area to read, write, raise kids, and not do too much housework. She lives with her husband and three children and wishes for a puppy.
This is a cute story about a young boy who takes an imaginary journey through history, pretending to be some of the great leaders who helped shape the world.  An interaction between a boy and his father, Alexander tells Daddy (and reminds him often!)  That his name is NOT Alexander, and he is indeed these larger-then-life men who influenced others and made history.  Daddy takes it all in stride, and goes right along with it.  In the end, he finds that his true hero is very close to home.

Just How Big Can a Little kid Dream?
Who is your hero?
Alexander takes a rip-roaring historical adventure! Through his imaginative journey, Alexander discovers how great men become heroes: the roughest rider can be surprisingly gentle, a strong leader is also the most peaceful, and sometimes, being brave about what makes you different will not only help you break records, but inspire others.
Join Alexander as he learns how these remarkable men changed the world and encouraged him to find the hero within himself.

The illustrations are beautiful and  in depth- they have layers!  Take a good look at them, and see that they have many details to be discovered.  Spend some time with the pages, not just with the words, and you will be pleasantly surprised  🙂
Alexander’s journey teaches us about the men he becomes, and there is “fun facts” about each of them as well.

The author is still on her My Name Is Not Alexander book tour, and these are the ones that are yet to pass!

ecomom Review and Contest!

Sweet dreams!  So, since we have already talked about fabulous beds, bedding, books, and stuffed animals, I feel like we are still missing something….AH!  I know.  A very important part of the bedtime routine!  Bathtime!  Who wants to go to bed dirty?  Not I!  (And not my Little Man, haha.)

Little Man helping me get the tub ready for his bath!

I really like ecomom.  It’s a really great place to find all sorts of organic, natural, safe for mom and baby products.  They have art products, books, toys, music, food, bath, beauty, home- just about everything you could want or need.
ecomom really stands behind it’s products, and has great integrity.  They really care about their products, their clients, and the world.  ecomom has a charity that they partner with, Healthy Child Healthy World, that  promotes healthy and safe living, prevents harm, from chemicals and toxins, and helps parents help their children have the healthiest and happiest life.

ecomom is about bridging the gap between making healthy choices and making easy choices. We created ecomom because we care and are concerned for babies and their moms, our families and our communities. We want every mom to be an ecomom because being an ecomom means making choices that are good for all of us, and the planet which we all share.”

ecomom also has really great “ecomom approved” icons  to help you quickly and easily view and figure out what you and your family will want, and how the product was made, as well as what it does (or doesn’t!) contain.
Of course, all the products they carry are “ecomom approved”, but the icons make it easy to see why.  For example, was it recycled?  Is it organic?  Sustainable?  Fair Trade?  Just look at the icons, and it’s easy to see.

To help get my Little Man ready for bed, ecomom thought that the Episencial Sweet Dreams Bubble Bath would be a perfect fit! Made with organic lavender oil, it is sure to help him get a good night’s rest.  A fun way to end the day.  This bubble bath is also good for the planet, and of course good for your little one.  Some of the ways that it is ecomom approved include cruelty free, toxin free, organic, and fair trade.  Gotta love those icons!
We also received “The Prince’s Bedtime” one of the great books that ecomom carries.   This story was about a little price who just couldn’t get to sleep- and the kingdom tried everything!  Well, almost…
ecomom carries some fun and unique books, that will enrich your child and invite them into a whole wide world that we are not exposed to on a regular basis, and into cultures and events that we don’t know.  Get your child curious about the world around them- and beyond!

ecomom has graciously offered one of Have Sippy Will Travel’s readers a 15$ gift certificate to their store.  If you want it to be you, here is how to enter!

Wrist Jockey Review

Hey all- we just got to try out these fun new products called Wrist Jockeys.
These are for your iPod Nano 6G, and they are pretty cool.  My husband is a gadget guy, and he was excited to review it!

The Wrist Jockey allows you to securely attach your iPod nano 6G to any of several different fashionable and functional watch bands, allowing you to express your personal style while keeping your music and photos close at hand everywhere you go.   Thanks to the Wrist Jockey’s patent pending cradle, your iPod nano is fully visible, making a bold fashion statement and allowing unfettered access to all of its buttons, ports, and functions (including charging or syncing your iPod nano without removing it). The Wrist Jockey’s unique design allows you to attach or remove your iPod nano in seconds, giving you the freedom to move your iPod nano from one Wrist Jockey to another as your mood suits you, without even stopping your music!

Since the hubs is the one who did the product testing, he did most of the review, as well.  🙂
And here it is, straight from Daddy’s mouth!

We recently got a few of these cool items called Wrist Jockeys.  Wrist Jockeys are these great iPod accessories that let you use your iPod like a wrist watch.
The two varieties we reviewed were Wrist Jockey Sport (white) and Wrist Jockey Professional (steel).  The neat thing about these watches are you can have you iPod with you all the time and not have to worry about losing it or dropping it or it falling out of your pocket.  Also, it is always at hand so you can use other functions of your iPod, like the alarm clock.

Both designs look good with the iPod of your choice.  I have a black iPod and it looked very much like a designer watch with the Wrist Jockey Professional design.  This is prefect for work.  It is made of stainless steel, which is great for people like me, because I am very hard on watches.  And because it looks so good, no one realized it was for iPod until I told them.  It just looks like a great watch.

The Wrist Jockey Sport is great for outdoor or indoor physical activities.  I have used it while bike riding and thought it worked perfect.  Kept my iPod in its place and also made it very easy to skip through my music by just reaching over to my wrist instead of fumbling in a pocket or trying to get to an armband.  Another nice touch is the material the sport is made of, very easy to clean and also keeps the iPod away from the sweat, that always seems to be a problem with arm band iPod carriers.

The only draw back I can see with it is if you aren’t careful…IE you walk into doorknobs/walls/ chairs often, your iPod is going to reflect that fact.  But, all in all, I really like this, and I am going to keep wearing them often.
You can “Like” Wrist Jockey on FaceBook HERE to keep up with all the latest news.
Happy Listening!

CleanFlame Firelogs (and a coupon!)

Here is a useful product for chilly nights or family camp-outs- the Cleanflame Firelog. These are the “greenest” fire logs you can find!!  Now you may be wondering- how is a fire log green?  Fire makes smoke, smoke has CO2 and CO and those are pretty bad pollutants.  These logs are made of recycled water-tight waxed-box containers that are usually used to ship produce to grocery stores.  As you can imagine, these boxes are difficult to recycle.  But CleanFlame found a use for them.  After processing, these waxed boxes are transformed into the cleanest burning, hottest, longest lasting firelog on the market.  The logs are both recycled and a clean burning fuel.
“Our ultra-clean burning products generate 86% less creosote, 80% less carbon monoxide, and 30% less particulate matter than natural wood. In fact, our products are so clean-burning that an increasing number of municipalities permit them on no-burn days.”
Great idea!!  CleanFlame has already teamed up with a few grocery chains, including SafeWay.  These are a definate must for any camping trip.  Let me tell you the difficult time the husband had getting a fire started the first time we went camping.  These would make it that much easier!

All CleanFlame™ products are 100% Recycled.

Also- there is a coupon on their site to save $3.00 on any one case of six five-pound CleanFlame firelogs.

Aurora World Stuffed Toys

Have I mentioned that my sweet Little Man is in a Big Boy Bed now?  I did?
Oh…well, I’m an excited momma!  LOL.  He’s getting so big, so fast.
With all Big Boy Beds, and all sleep events, must come fabulous stuffed animals!  What child doesn’t like to sleep with something soft and cuddley when they go to bed at night?  (Or at naptime!)
In keeping with the “Wild Animals” theme, Aurora World sent us two adorable animals, sure to give your little one “sweet dreams”!

These are soon to be released.  They are from the Aurora Baby line- and even though this is a “Big Boy Bed” event, that’s just fine with me, because he’s always going to be my baby! (Plus- he really likes them, haha.)
The little blue elephant us super soft, and a little floppy- which is just perfect for a baby or young child.  The Cheeky Charlie blankie is one of those little “essentials” that all of our babies have- the tiny blankie with the stuffed animal top.  So easy to grab onto and cuddle!  When I think of cute plush animals, one of the first names that pop into my head is definitely Aurora.  And look- the stuffed Aurora blue elephant even matches the one on his comforter, LOL.

Aurora World Inc. is proud of our high quality, safe, and educational baby plush and toys. All items exceed safety standards and are sure to last through the years as your child grows. Enjoy watching your child play with the absolute best in baby plush and toys today, only from Aurora!”

Win Scrabble Flash!

Today I have a really fun contest for you- the new Scrabble Flash from Hasbro!  The first person I thought of when I got this game was my grandma.  She LOVES Scrabble!  It is one of her favorite games of all times, and she plays regularly.  I called her to tell her that I had a new kind of Scrabble for her called Scrabble Flash, where you use interactive SmartLink tiles to build your words, she got really excited.  I had planned to bring the game over the next night so she could play it with the kids, and I was going to leave it with her so she could keep it for her next game night.  She plays all the time with my aunts and her friends.  However, that flood I have been posting about got in the way of my plans.  We are still stuck at home, but at least the waters are receding!  🙂  We have not played it with her yet, but because the contest will need to end soon, I want to post this as soon as possible.  I also got to see this game in action at the NY Toy Fair Hasbro event, and I know many of you checked out my photostream and videos.
I am so excited to get this to my grandma.  I will post photos as soon as we can get it to her.  So for now, here is some more information about Scrabble Flash!

“It’s up to you to find words in a “flash” with this fun, electronic version of the classic SCRABBLE game! Use the interactive SmartLink tiles to build your words and they’ll flash and beep with each word you make! They’ll also automatically time your turns and display your score with the maximum possible score. Put your skills to the test with three different solo and competitive games and slide, swap and shuffle your way to a win. It’s fast-paced, addictive, word-building fun!
Includes 5 SmartLink letter tiles, storage box and rules.
Includes 5 “button cell” batteries. For 1 or more players.
Ages 8 and up. “

These tiles are so great for kids as well as adults.  They can help the younger ones learn to spell, and the older ones practice their spelling, vocabulary, and sharpen their mental skills.
Plus, Scrabble has a championship coming up!
Do you know any superstar Scrabble players in grades 5-8? If the answer is yes, now’s the time for them to register for the 2011 National School Scrabble Championship! Teams of two students can register to compete in this year’s competition, which will take place April 15-16 at the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando, FL. Visit http://www.scrabble-assoc.com to register now. Not familiar with our School Scrabble program?
Check out this video from the 2009 Championship.
AND, there is a new Facebook page out there dedicated ONLY to all things Scrabble related!  Of course, the new Scrabble Flash, classic Scrabble, Scrabble Jr, Scrabble Slam- if you are a Scrabble fan, you found your new favorite page!  You can find daily word challenges, words of the day, coupon offers, Scrabble news and tips, online gaming, and School Scrabble information on the new Scrabble Facebook page

Here are some other great ways to connect with Hasbro, and lots of fun games!
