Holiday Gift Guide – Dinosaur Train Toys!

All Aboard! Dinosaur Train, coming on through! That’s right, just in time for the Holidays, comes a fabulous line of toys from the edu-taining hit show, Dinosaur Train! (haha, I made up a word!)
Have you seen the show! If you have a PreSchooler, I am sure you have, and with good reason. This show is fun, adorable, and educational! That’s right, your kids can learn about something! (Good reason to let the TV run and give you a minute to make dinner in peace!) Now you know by now I am a picky momma when it comes to my kids and the TV. However, Dinosaur Train is a super show. It also has a great set of values- friendship, family, and kindness, as well as the value of education and valuing the differences in others. Not a fast runner? That’s OK, you fly really well! You can’t fly? Woah, but your teeth are really great! Another aspect I like? Buddy is an adopted member of his family. As an adoptive mom (as well as a biological mom, just like Buddy’s momma!) I really appreciate that aspect. There are not many shows out there that make adopted kids feel part of the “pack”, and for that, Dinosaur Train, this mommy salutes you!
Dinosaur Train has a really great set of toys out right now. We were sent Dino Fun Buddy to review, and he is just too cute!

Ages: 3+
SRP: $24.99
With Dino Fun Buddy, dinosaur play gets taken to the next level! This adorable dinosaur figure comes dressed in a Jr. train conductor’s uniform and includes a large watch face on his belly that acts as the info center. Insert any one of the 15 dinosaur information tickets into Buddy’s clock to trigger different phrases and dinosaur facts. When playtime is over, the train tickets store inside the backpack attached to Buddy’s back. With more than 120 dino details and phrases, Dino Fun Buddy is as much fun as he is factual.

Holiday Gift Guide -Banana Gaurd Review!

Banana Guard is the most interesting set of items I have reviewed in a while! As soon as I happened to see the Banana Guard, I had to contact the company to see if they wanted a review. I was thrilled when they said yes! I am not exactly sure why, but I was super, super excited by this. I felt like I was about 5 years old (maybe younger) with the Banana Guard. It is just super fun, LOL. I was giddy when it got to my house, actually giddy. Ok, let me tell you about the product, haha. It is made so that the banana goes inside it, making sure it does not get bruised.
Banana Guard
With over a million sold, the patented Banana Guard has allowed people of all ages to enjoy the world’s most favorite fruit at work, school or play without the worry that it will become smashed and inedible! Remarkably this device fits over 90% of commercially available bananas. How? Highly curved bananas can be straightened slightly to fit into upper curve and very straight bananas can be bent ever so slightly to fit into the mold.

Banana Guard

And while I do understand all this, and I agree that it does, I like it more for the “fun factor”. It really is just fun! Again, I can’t really put my finger on it, but it just is! It doesn’t fit all bananas, but does fit most of them. I like all their other guards, too- they have a S’wich Guard , a Froot Guard, and [Read more…]

Holiday Gift Guide- Executive Gift Shoppe Review and Giveaway!

I recently found a really fun place to shop! A friend of mine sent me an email with a link to a really fun site with some great gifts on it- Executive Gift Shoppe! Executive Gift Shoppe has great gifts for anyone on your list. Men, women, business contacts, etc. They have some really nice items, and the price is right! They have really great Flasks and Business Card Holders.
I was sent one flask and one business card holder for review. The quality is great, and I was not disappointed at all. Both were for women. I kept the business card holder, and it has been in my purse since the day I got it. It has held up nicely, even after the 15+ hour drive to and from Chicago and countless uses since. They have many varieties of business card holders, including those meant to sit on a desk. I like mine, it’s different! And look at the bling factor, LOL, it’s almost like jewelry.
As I am not a drinker, and my husband was not about to use a pink flask, LOL, I gave it to a friend of mine to try out and tell me what she thought. While I can tell you it was pretty and I liked the look of it, I couldn’t tell you if it was useful or worked well- but she can!
Here is what she has to say-
-Perfect size! She loved that it fit nicely into her purse, and was small enough for her to sneak in to a wedding that did not provide alcohol, lol.
-Attractive! (I agree!) She liked that it was made for a woman. Most are plain silver or black, or more masculine. This was the first feminine one she has seen.
-Well made, didn’t leak, didn’t leave a “taste” in her drinks. My husband has a flask that left a metallic taste, so I was curious if this did as well. [Read more…]

SUPER SUNDAY EVENT

DEC. 12 –UNITED JEWISH COMMUNITIES OF METROWEST– WHIPPANY, NJ

“Her stage name may sound as if it belonged on a jar of pasta sauce, but Mama Doni is an indisputably Jewish performer. Doni Zasloff Thomas in real life, she specializes in putting a Jewish spin on all kinds of musical styles, including reggae, rock, disco and Latin.” – The New York Times

“A zany musical chicken soup of reggae, rock, disco, Latin, klezmer, and other styles.” –The Boston Globe

“Wacky Jewish indie-rock for kids.” – The Star-Ledger

MONTCLAIR, NJ (Nov. 5) – In a spirit of outrageous fun, Mama Doni & The Mama Doni Band bring their special brand of “funky music with a Jewish twist” to a free, all-ages family show at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 12 at United Jewish Communities of MetroWest Alex Aidekman Family Community Campus, 901 Route 10, Whippany, NJ. This show is part of a “CareLink” Super Sunday Event including a variety of community service projects.

Doni Zasloff Thomas, a.k.a. Mama Doni, is the lead singer/songwriter of The Mama Doni Band, winner of the Simcha Award for “Inspiring Joy Through Music” in competition with more than 100 bands from 15 different countries at the 2008 International Jewish Music Festival in Amsterdam. The band celebrates Jewish culture with irrepressible zest in its high-energy, interactive family rock concerts filled with catchy pop songs that break the mold of traditional Jewish music. Quirky, offbeat, and unpredictable, The Mama Doni Band offers up a contagious and unexpected blend of reggae, rock, disco, Latin, klezmer and “Jewgrass” – all woven together with a hip Jewish sensibility and a zany sense of humor.

In a spirit of fun and ruach, Mama Doni’s show will be filled to the brim with dancing, sing-alongs, and giveaways for everyone. As a special treat, there’s also be a “sneak peek” at songs from Mama Doni’s next CD, Shabbat Shaboom, with reggae dancing to “Mazel Tov,” rocking out to a Latin dance beat in “Challah-Day!,” and some crazy “Jewgrass” dancing to a song all about family, “Mishpocha.” The show will overflow with wild and wacky numbers, including such Mama Doni favorites as “Jewish Cowgirl” and “Shofar-Blowin’ Band.” Hip young kids and their even hipper parents and grandparents should be ready to get up and dance at this spirited Jewish rock concert!

According to Carrie Stetler in The Star-Ledger, Doni Zasloff Thomas “is proud to have a schtick. And that schtick, she says, is to ‘Jewify’ all forms of music – from country to reggae to holiday songs.” Kids’ media authority Amy Kraft, of Media Macaroni, enthused, “We were all laughing out loud … Listen as Mama Doni spreads around some challah-day spirit in her inimitable cross between Sheryl Crow and Tone Loc.”

Mama Doni, a resident of Montclair, New Jersey, hopes that her music will add some Jewish flavor to the lives of people everywhere. She speaks with great passion about preserving the priceless Yiddish and Jewish spirit by imbuing it with a contemporary vibe that connects to life in our times.

Go! Go! Sports Doll, a fabulous doll option for your child, has a great video for you to see.
This doll, a positive image for your daughter instead of the media induced “be thin!”  “be pretty!”  “be perfect!”  (where is be happy, or be smart, or be confident?)  is a top pick from me- and I hope you love the video as much as I love the doll!

By the way- it just won 3 awards – Dr. Toys 10 Best Socially Responsible Products, PAL Award for promoting language development, and Nickelodeon’s Top Toys 2010.  Tall order for a doll!  Must be something!  Check it out!

Myclyns Review

Hello all,
Today I will be reviewing an interesting new product called Myclyns. Myclyns is a first aid spray that can be used on your face. This means when your little one hurts themselves on their face, maybe playing football, maybe just running around the house making believe they are Iron Man. You can spray Myclyns on their face and there won’t be any screaming or crying about burning or stinging. The other great property of Myclyns is in the germ arena. It is quickly becoming flu season and with that sneezing and coughing. Sometimes kids cover their mouths, sometimes they don’t. These little gifts given to everyone sometimes right on you or your little ones’ faces. Yuck. I want to go wash my hands just thinking about it. When something like this happens myclyns comes in handy. A little spray and off the germs go. Dead as door [Read more…]
