Fun Finds at Mom Mixer

Last weekend, we went to Philly to visit The Franklin Institute science museum, both for the fun Mom Mixer event as well as to check out the museum itself.  We had a great time checking out some fun, new items (and getting some ideas for holiday shopping), sampling some snacks from CVS, and meeting Elmo (who doesn’t love a big, furry monster hug?)

11 12 14 Halloween and product 012Some of our favorites were from Hasbro- my son loved, loved the Grimlock and Optimus Prime toys- almost all of them transform, even the huge Grimlock (this is sure to be a hot toy this year).  The Hasbro station was popular with kids of all ages, with the adorable Lets Imagine Elmo, new Play Doh fun, and more.

new optimus prime toyEpic Optimus Prime was one of my son’s favorites of the day, and it’s a huge toy. The figure stands 22 inches tall, and his chest opens to reveal a command center that fits mini-figures (sold separately) to further playtime.  Grimlock, his other favorite toy, is just as cool- and really, if your kid is a fan, grab this toy now- it’s sure to sell out.

grimlock action figureTransformers Age of Extinction Stomp and Chomp Grimlock Figure is another larger then usual toy, but it is also huge fun. Grimlock is a giant, 20-inch robot that offers a lot of movement and motion. In one step, he really transforms into a dinosaur that can stomp and chomp. His eyes also light up.

Hanging Out with @ZylieTheBear in Central Park at #OasisDayCamps (AND #Win a Bear!)

Me and my Little spent the morning in Central Park with the makers of Zylie the Bear and Oasis Day Camp (where my son attended camp for a month this summer). The kids had a great time playing together, with lots of activities planned and of course- meeting and learning about the guest of honor- Zylie!

Zylie is a bear after my own heart- she likes to travel 🙂 Zylie the Bear, an innovative new teddy bear line that is all about fashion and adventure, has a silly little brother, likes to learn, visits a museum, and has a Panda friend from China named Shen. In her first book, which was read in parts to the kids, we learn about Zylie and what makes her so much fun. The kids, both boys and girls alike, had a great time hearing her story and playing with the bears. Then, all the “little campers” had a morning of recreational and creative [Read more…]

Stop on by your local train station and spend the day with your favorite Little Blue #1 Engine, Sir Topham Hatt, rides, fun, food, and all sorts of entertainment for your children.

What is more fun then spending the day riding in a steam engine? Well, riding in a Thomas steam engine, of course!

#FeedtheFamily with Target

A few weeks ago, I was invited to attend Target’s Feed the Family event in New York City. Target showcased all different ways to feed your family with products you can buy right at your local Target. From soup to nuts- well, from the recipes, to ingredients, to cooking utensils, accessories, and back to school products, it really covered everything.

As a Target shopper, it gave me some good ideas. Target is one of the least expensive stores I know of to shop at, and I got some good ideas to try. I’m not that creative- so it was awesome to be poked a bit, LOL.

I thought this was a cute take on the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich- just for a little variety. Take a variety of crackers, some peanut butter, jelly, and cranberries for good measure- and there you go! 🙂

And of course- every child’s favorite, mac and cheese!

They also have some cute lunchboxes and food-on-the-go containers to get ready for back to school.

Target created the expanded food layout in response to research and feedback from guests who requested more fresh food selection in the convenience of their local Target store. The new and enhanced store redesign allows Target stores to further serve as a one-stop shopping destination for busy guests who can now complete their grocery list or pick up tonight’s [Read more…]
