Mean Green 101 For All Your Cleaning Needs

Ok, so we all have favorite for specific tasks.  I do too. But, sometimes, change is good. Why not change it up with a new (and proven) brand which can be used it more places then you thought? Less expensive then many brands, as well, and you won’t believe how well it works. I was so surprised I called my husband in to look.

Take a look at the Mean Green De-greaser.  This is the jumping off point into the Mean Green family of cleaning products.  This line includes items for cleaning bathroom, kitchen, garage, recreational outdoor areas, laundry room, and patio.  In the kitchen, it can clean everything from the cooking hood, to the cabinets, and floors, and beyond.  The bathroom is another big cleaning zone, from tiles to mirrors to grout, the shower and toilet- everything in here can be cleaned with Mean Green. As anyone who follows me on Twitter or Facebook knows, I have a “sore spot” with the bathroom- my son and husband are disgusting. Truly. I cannot tell you how many times a week I clean the bathroom- sometimes how many times a DAY I clean the same “certain areas”. Yes, I make them do it too, but it sure hasn’t stopped them from their gross behaviors.  Honestly, I don’t even know how urine GETS in some of these spots…..men, man. But I really, really loved the job the Mean Green products did on my bathroom. It smells better, gets the gross out of even the tile grout- I’m just really, really happy with it.

Seventh Generation Toxin Freedom Fighters

Disclosure- I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Seventh Generation. I received a promotional item and product samples as a thank you for participating

Toxins are all around us in our environment but not only outside or near facotries.  There are also quite a few toxins in our homes.  Many of which we brought in from the market.  How is this possible? Well for example 80,000 synthetic chemicals introduced into the market since the Toxic Substances Control Act was passed in 1976, the EPA has required testing on less than 10%.

pic9Scientists have linked exposure to toxic chemicals to quite a few health risks, including: cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, asthma, birth defects, and other reproductive problems.  All of which would occur a whole lot less if congress would update one law, The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).  TCA  was passed in 1976, and has never been updated since its inception. As of now there are thousands of potentially harmful chemicals used in the marketplace since the 1970’s without proper testing and without disclosure by the companies that produce them.  The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was passed in 1976, and  has never been updated since its inception. As of now, thousands of potentially harmful chemicals continue to be used in the marketplace since the 1970’s without proper testing and without disclosure by the companies that produce them.  But what pray tell can you do about it?  Why not check out the Natural Resources Defense Council website.

Eco-friendly Easter Basket

Spring is the time of year that, for many of us, we are inspired to celebrate nature. As the snow clears and the flowers begin to bloom once more, it’s a handy reminder for us all about life cycles, renewal and the importance of protecting nature—even in big cities. New York is a city that positively bursts with color in spring, whether you’re exploring the wilds of Central Park or merely lucky enough to be a resident in a complex that respects and protects green-spaces (such as The Greenwich Lane in the West Village, which features incredibly serene gardens.) Of course, this great season of re-birth coincides with Easter, and if you’re looking for an eco-friendly way of celebrating with your kids this March 31st, a thoughtful Easter basket could be the way to go. Here are five ideas of what to put in yours:

1. Eco-Friendly Books
Thoughtful publishers are now, more and more, focusing on sustainable practices when it comes to releasing their books. Since it wouldn’t be Easter without a bunny or two, we’d recommend a copy of Beatrix Potter’s Peter Rabbit. The new Snuggle Book version of the classic tale comes in a cuddle-friendly organic cotton and is perfect for toddlers, while the original version has been delighting children for over a century now and is a great way to teach kids about farming and wildlife.

2. Seeds and Gardening Equipment
