Lets Go Exploring

Summer is the perfect time to head out and play for the kids. I have a few really fun ideas for ways to encourage the kids to explore nature, to engage in dramatic play, and to keep their skin protected while soaking up the summer sun!

In order to go exploring you have to get their safely first. Mifold is small, compact, and you can take it anywhere! Instead of lifting the child up it brings the seat belt down. Making it safe and comfortable for them to ride. Imagine the places you can go exploring without having to have a big bulky booster seat around.

Sunblocz is my favorite option for very water resistant sun protection for the entire family. This is a 100% all natural option that has SPF 50+ and is safe for the entire family. It has no artificial fragrances and is full of antioxidants for a great choice in sun protection this summer.

After applying sunblock, it is time to head out and explore. The Haba Terra Kids Binoculars is a really fun way to encourage kids to enjoy nature with no frills, apps, alerts or screens! These are durable and effective for young explorers with the power to magnify 4x. I love that these come with a bag and a handy strap to keep them close for all kinds of summer explorations!

After a day of adventure, it is time to fire up the grill. The new sprouts grill it set by Learning Resources is a fun way to serve up a helping of imaginative play for the youngest chefs! This set includes all of the ingredients they need for a dramatic play BBQ! I love that this set includes fine motor play with a tasty helping of fun. The set includes 22 durable pieces including a grill, serving tools, steak, cheese and veggies to name a few.

If you have a favorite option for summer play, I would love to hear about it in a comment to inspire our future play sessions!

Keeping Kids Entertained with Brio Toys

Summer is here and we are heading out to visit family, go camping and have a lot of fun making memories. This summer, I have a strong desire to make our memories hands on based, instead of technology based. I think that hands on play is vital to childhood development, no matter how old your kids get.

Toys

This year, we are taking Brio along for the adventures to keep the kids happy, engaged and learning.

One that the entire family likes to tinker with is the Brio Labyrinth. This is a classic toy that has been reimagined for a younger, on the go, audience. We love that it is two sided and completely sealed for a fun way to play and challenge young minds anytime, anywhere. Retailing at under $30 this is a fun toy for the car for your summer travels.

Toys

The Brio airport with control tower is perfect for preparing a young traveler for a first airport experience. We have been building excitement for the way an airport works for our youngest with this set to help ease any anxieties that he may have. This is a really well made set that will bring hours of imaginative play with the kids. Ideal for kids 3 and up this set retails for about $70.

The Brio camping set has been a huge hit with my kids. They love to go camping in the woods, in the backyard, or in the living room with blanket forts, so to reenact some of their favorite experiences with a well made playset has been perfect. My kids are crazy about the canoe that neatly fits on the family car in this set. It is such a fun touch.

These are fun options for summer play, on the go or at home. If you have a favorite Brio toy for summer, I would love to hear about it.

Lucid Audio HearMuffs

Parents will do anything within their powers to protect their children from harm. Right? Right! So, if we protect our children from  … say for instance … mosquitoes or harmful UV rays … shouldn’t we also protect their precious hearing? Of course, that is why I was happy to let my one-year-old nephew try out the Lucid Audio’s HearMuffs.

Growing ears of babies and toddlers are susceptible to damage. Providing hearing protection, especially at a young age, helps to ensure optimal hearing as your child grows. HearMuffs is a protective devise that is tauted as being the most advanced hearing preservation for infants and toddlers! Sounds great, but does it work?

I used the HearMuffs at a recent Track-n-Field event where there is historically a large amount of screaming by parents who are trying to encourage their competing children … and not to mention the sudden pop of the starter’s pistol at various times. Unexpected sounds or aggressive voices startles my youngster … which leads to a crying … which leads to crankiness .. which leads to the me leaving earlier thank expected from an event. By his reactions, it is clear loud noises hurt.

To gauge if the HearMuffs really worked, I closely watched my tiny human as the environment seemed to explode around him. Not a budge … nor flinch … only cute toddler smiles and drool. It’s a keeper folks!

HearMuffs compress sounds and has the unique ability to let in outside voices to comfort a child. The unit can even play soothing sounds. Options include Protect only, Soothe Mode allows voices to be heard while compressing potentially harmful noises to comfortable levels and Sounds Mode where the child can enjoy four soothing sounds — Lullaby, White Noise, Creek, and Heartbeat.

We were at the track meet for a few hours and my nephew stayed the entire time and did not have a tantrum. I really believe it was due to the HearMuffs.

Possible Hearing Hazards for Children

  • Loud toys
  • Television volume
  • Events such as festivals, sports events, concerts
  • Firework displays
  • Household appliances (vacuum, hair dryer, blender)

Edushape Ladybug Sorter Makes Learning Fun

Being a mom of four on a limited budget I have picked up on a few hidden secrets that only mothers know. The most important one is that the best kind of toys are the ones that offer a wide variety of skills and uses. Edushape Ladybug Sorter does just that! This post is a sponsored post, but all opinions, stories, and my experience are all personal and true (like always)!

About:

Equally comfortable on the table, floor, bed or bath, the cute Ladybug Sorter provides educational and developmental play. The Ladybug Sorter can float on its firm Edu-Foam lily pad bottom and include six unique shapes to for sorting fun, water play and learning.

My Thoughts:

The beauty behind this toy is that it can be used just about anywhere. It can be used on the floor, on the table, in the bathtub, or in the kiddie pool. Outside of the ability to be used on multiple surfaces it also has multiply education values. It is perfect for practicing fine and gross motor skills. It works on their logic, reasoning, and hand-eye coordination skills. While doing this all it also helps improve their visual sensory development. This toy is a dream come true for us mommies. It’s educational and has multiple purposes.

The question is does it pass the kid test? Short answer is yes. My six year old and my one year old both love playing with it. Carly tends to play with it mostly in the bathtub while Lee Lee tend to plays with in on the floor. I can truly test to the fact that this ladybug is one that is built to last. It has held up through many tosses from Lee Lee. There is not a scratch or dent on it.

This fun learning toy is a great gift idea as well as a way to encourage hands on problem solving in a colorful way. My kids have had a ton of fun with it, so I am sure any little one in your life will love it too!

Gululu, The Interactive Water Bottle for Kids, Launches Gululu Go

The most portable and interactive design yet,

Gululu Go “talks back” to kids as it motivates them to keep hydrate

Gululu, the world’s first interactive water bottle designed to keep kids hydrated, has just announced the international launch of Gululu Go, a lighter, more portable version with a sound speaker. This marks a major step forward in the product’s interactivity and toward the brand’s goal of enabling kids to love drinking water and build a healthy habit.

According to a recent study by the Harvard School of Public Health, dehydration in children can result in poor health, including cognitive and emotional problems, and is associated with diabetes and obesity. Research by the UK Natural Hydration Council found that if children become dehydrated, their auditory number span, visual attention and fine motor skills in school – such as their handwriting and ability to copy text – will be significantly reduced.

Invented by Bowhead Technology, Gululu ensures that children stay hydrated by engaging them to care for a virtual pet. As kids drink more water from their Gululu interactive water bottle, their chosen virtual pet grows and makes friends. At the same time, Gululu keeps parents informed of their children’s hydration progress through a connected smartphone app.

Gululu Go is the latest introduction to the brand’s innovative line and is smaller, lighter, and therefore easily portable. Most significantly, Gululu Go features a sound speaker, which allows the Gululu pets to talk to children for the first time, using over 200 phrases and different voices for the individual pet characters.

After releasing over 15 versions of the game and app since its global launch in October 2016, Gululu has developed an operational model of frequent content updates to keep users continuously engaged toward building a healthy habit. Every two to three weeks, Gululu introduces additional features, such as new thematic online campaigns, new drinking animations, new accessories for pets, new sound effects and new audio phrases, all pushed to the bottle through the cloud. Children can redeem the accessories for their pets with the virtual coins collected along their journey of discovering the Gululu Universe. A fourth character was released at the end of March and more characters are expected to come in order to expand the Gululu Universe.

The multiple aspects of social interaction and UGC (user-generated content) are important to promote Gululu users’ engagement and retention. Users have been invited or selected to co-create content such as drawing the pets’ accessories and recording short voice stories for the “GBC News” online radio. Gululu now allows users to make friends by shaking bottles next to each other or on the app remotely, check the social leader board for the game progress, and send emoji animations to poke each other in the bottle.

As of end of April 2018, more than 40 thousand units of Gululu have been shipped globally across 70 plus countries including the US, the Greater China region, South East Asia, Europe and other parts of the world. The most loyal users have been with Gululu for over 400 days. Over 30% of Gululu’s users worldwide have made friends on the platform and their retention is significantly higher than those who don’t have Gululu friends.

Gululu Universe is becoming a center pillar to support the brand’s product roadmap and the company is enhancing its patented IP by branching out into diverse formats such as WeChat emojis, its own music and songs, and preparing for animated short videos.

On its quest and mission to perfect children’s well-being, Bowhead Technology is also in the process of making several new products. Besides Gululu Go, the company is also researching the AI version of Gululu for the next generation, to enhance the human-machine interface and strengthen the user interaction. A non-bottle innovative product that addresses other healthy habits is also under way.

The pre-sale for Gululu Go starts May 24. On this date, Gululu Go may be purchased for $119 at www.gululugo.com.

Travel Tips for Young Families

It’s that time of the year again. Summer is quickly approaching, and it’s time to plan your next family vacation.

After you select your destination, you must plan the logistics of your trip. This is especially true if you are traveling with young children.

With careful planning, your trip can be exciting and stress-free. Here are a few travel tips for young families.

Pack the Essentials

It’s easy to get carried away when you are packing for a family vacation. If you’re not careful, you might pack more than you and your family need.

Take a moment to think about your destination. Make a list of essential items that your family will need to make the trip enjoyable.

For example, essential items for a beach trip include swimsuits, goggles and water shoes. Although it would be nice to pack inflatables, they might take up too much space in your luggage or your car.

Purchase Snacks Before the Trip

Whether you are traveling by car or airplane, buying snacks on the road can be expensive. For a family of 5 people, one trip to the convenience store could cost you over $25. Spending large amounts of money on snacks isn’t as cost-effective as getting title loans in Rock Hill.

Before you leave for vacation, take a trip to the grocery store. Purchase your snacks in bulk. By taking this action, you can select healthy snack options and save money in the process.

Dress Casually

When you travel with young children, you must be able to move around freely. Keep this in mind as you are packing your attire for the trip.

Be sure to pack plenty of casual clothing including tennis shoes, athletic wear, flat shoes and t-shirts. It’s okay to pack a few pieces of dress clothing for a special outing.

Pack an Activities Bag

Most children are active. They like to be occupied at all times. One way to satisfy their need to remain active is by packing an activities bag. Here are a few things that you can include in the bag.

  • Crayons
  • Coloring books
  • Reading books
  • Electronic tablet
  • Playing cards

Use Curbside Baggage Check

Walking through the airport with young children and multiple bags of luggage can be stressful. Although bringing luggage on the airplane can save money, it can be a chore to keep up with the luggage and your children. It might be worth the cost to spend the extra money to take advantage of curbside baggage check.

Enjoy Every Moment

It seems as if time passes quickly when you have children. For this reason, you should make the effort to enjoy your vacation.

You should be mindful that some parts of the trip will be challenging no matter how carefully you plan. Try not to get upset when things don’t go as planned.

Traveling with young children doesn’t have to be stressful. These travel tips can help you enjoy every minute of your family vacation.
