All aboard! Thomas the Tank Engine invites little engineers to join him and his best friend Percy for a day of engaging activities and fun adventures at Day Out With Thomas: The Steam Team Tour 2019. Children are invited to spend the day with their friend Thomas when the #1 Engine and Percy pull into The Essex Steam Train & Riverboat on April 20, 27-28 and May 4-5 , 2019. Day Out With Thomas: The Steam Team Tour 2019 is presented by Mattel.

This fun-filled event offers children and their families the opportunity to take a ride with Thomas the Tank Engine and pose for photos on-site with his best friend Percy, stars of the popular Thomas & Friends™ series. In addition, they will meet Sir Topham Hatt, Controller of the Railway and enjoy a day of Thomas-themed activities including toy play, photo ops, and much more.  The tour, now in its 24th year, will make 37 stops across the U.S. and Canada and is expected to welcome nearly one million passengers in 2019.

  • A 25-minute (approximate) ride with Thomas at The Essex Steam Train & Riverboat

Try a Hobo Lunch on the Train

If your family is like mine, you have at least one kid that loves the train. We do train rides at every chance, with our favorite being the Strasburg Railroad in PA. While we love the train, sometimes you want to switch it up a little or add a little something to it. The hobo lunch is perfect way to bring the authentic feel of an old-time train ride without having to hop between moving cars or robbing the passengers while on horseback. 🙂

Strasburg Railroad- have some family fun!

Little Man and a “Red Cap” friend, who is there to answer questions, help out, and make your day that much better 🙂

During our trip to Pennsylvania we went to a very cool destination. The Strasburg Railroad. Out in Lancaster, PA, located on Route 741, there is wonderful railroad station. Many train fanatics say it is the best in the USA for visitors and one of the most fantastic places left where you can actually ride in the old steam engines. This train station is large, restored and maintained beautifully, and you can feel the love that the conductors and employees have for their jobs. They are also AMAZING and so sweet to the kids.
