When is a Happy hippo even happier? When she is making your little one feel better after a bump or bruise of course. Happy the hippo is one of the newest Thermal-Aid Zoo Animals from Thermal-Aid.

Thermal-Aid started out as a medical and veterinary heating and cooling pack. Then after much success in this field they branched off into retail. The way Thermal-Aid works is through nature and science. Each pack is made up of corn. Only it is modified to take out the germ, tip cap, and bran coat. This makes it so the corn can not get infected with a mold, bacteria or fungus. After this it is processed by being hydrated and super heated to bring it to its thermal state.

These little corn kernels do a great job of holding in hot and cold. When wrapped in a cotton soft plush little ones, and adults, won’t mind holding them close one bit. To heat them, put the entire plush into the microwave on a clean surface, like a dinner plate for 45-60 seconds. To cool them, just leave it in the freezer for five hours. Either way these zoo animals are a big help in many situations. Cold helps with bruises and sunburn, while heat can help with muscle pain and insomnia. There are a few decisions that must be made upon getting a zoo animal. First is what kind of animal to get; there are five in total. Tiny the elephant, Ollie the koala, JoJo the monkey, Baxter the bunny, and last but not least Happy the hippo. The second decision is: How is this plush going to help? By warming or cooling? If cold, you should leave it on ice, in the freezer until needed. If hot, then no freezer. Little Man couldn’t bare leaving Happy in the freezer so the decision was made for us, he is to be a heating therapeutic pack. My suggestion get two, one hot and one cold- preferably the same animal. This alleviates the difficult decision of picking where to put the snugly critter, and keeps one of them with your little one in playable condition at all times.

  1. Great idea. Kids always want comfort when they are sick. Perfect way for them to get and feel better.
