Florida is a great place for family travel, even if you dare to (GASP!) venture outside of Disney, LOL. Some ideas for the next time you head down to the Sunshine state-

legoland FLFlorida’s “funnest” theme park, Legoland Florida is less then a year old. At 150 acres, this theme park is located in Winter Garden, Florida- just a short drive from the Disney area. With more then 50 different rides and attractions, not to mention varied eateries, Miniland, and a brand new waterpark- they recommend the park for ages 2 – 12 years old.

Head on over to the panhandle, to beautiful Destin. The Hilton Sandestin provides a resort where there is tons to do for both adults and kids. There are beach activities just for kids, from sandcastle building to Kids Krew to the Sunny the Sea Turtle contest (which is a really cute way for families to get involved together for a chance to win prizes) that will keep them busy and happy. And when you all get hungry? There are tons of dining options to choose from, anything from fine dining to grab-an-go.

Check out the Kennedy Space Center- the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex features many attractions and year-round interactive programs, including meeting real astronauts. The standard bus tour, included with admission, explores the history of the Apollo moon and space shuttle programs with panoramic views of Kennedy Space Center, the VAB’s exterior and a stop at the Apollo/Saturn V Center, where visitors see an authentic 363-foot Saturn V moon rocket and relive the historic Apollo missions that saw man land on the moon.

Go on a dolphin cruise in Clearwater. The Little Toot is the only Dolphin boat that can go into the shallows as well as the Gulf to ensure more Dolphin sightings and closer Dolphin contact. GUARANTEED to see dolphins or your next trip is FREE. Plus, since it has a “tug boat” quality, they can create waves that the dolphins like to play in.

There are tons of options- choose your pleasure 🙂
