About The Wild Life

From the over-exuberant parrot Mak to the snack-obsessed tapir Rosie, from the persnickety echidna Epi to the acrobatic pangolin Pango, from the ditzy goat Scrubby to the commonsensical kingfisher Kiki and the always-cool chameleon Carmello, things are larger-than-life on a tropical isle that is pure wild animal paradise. Then Robinson Crusoe, a marooned human, arrives in the midst of a furious storm, and their lives are forever changed by this bewildering new “creature.” No matter their differences, castaway human and quirky animals embark on an hilarious new adventure, building the island’s first tree-house and surviving together. But when two conniving members of the animal kingdom — the savage cats Mal & May – pounce into a battle for control of the island, Crusoe and his animal posse must uncover the true power of friendship against all odds (even savage cats).

Elena of Avalor Games

Elena of Avalor app

If you have young ones at home, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the Disney Channel. There’s regular Disney, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and probably a new one on the way. With so much programming available, choosing the best TV shows for our children isn’t always easy. Recently, Elena of Avalor debuted on television and the Internet. It’s a promising Disney show featuring characters in—you guessed it—a magical fairy tale.

Elena of Avalor features a bunch of strong, smart characters. It’s based on Princess Elena, who is surrounded by supportive friends and family. There are wondrous flying guardians (Jaquins), helpful spirit animals, and other surprises in the magical kingdom. Instead of just watching the television program, I recommend you share these great Elena of Avalor games with your children.

There are more than a dozen titles in Poki’s collection. Better yet, as the series grows in popularity, more games will be added. The present selection features games in a bunch of different genres, including adventures, baking tasks, cleaning chores, medical challenges, and puzzles. Although these games come from different developers, they have all been chosen due to their broad appeal. Elena of Avalor titles aren’t just for fans of the show; they’re designed with all sorts of players in mind, from preschoolers to teenagers. In case you were wondering, some of these games are just as entertaining for us parents.

The adventure games send players to a magical kingdom. There, we will encounter all sorts of happy folks from the TV show. Avalor is filled with funny friends, silly creatures, and a few spooky villains. In Elena of Avalor Adventure, we’ll meet her sister (Isabel), grandfather (Francisco), and best friend (Naomi). This game provides a really fun way to interact with everyone around the castle.

The baking games are equally entertaining, giving us a chance to cook tasty items in the kitchen. In Elena of Avalor Cooking Cake, we will mix sugar, flour, and cocoa for the batter. Then, the chef will guide us on how to bake the rest of the dessert perfectly.

Real chores aren’t fun. Luckily, Princess Elena has the magical ability to make cleaning a blast! Games like Elena of Avalor Room Cleaning and Princess Elena Clean turn mundane tasks into exciting treasure hunts. These games just might inspire your young ones to tidy up their rooms with pleasure.

Medical challenges are exciting and educational. In these games, players become doctors. The mission is very clear: treat the princess’s wounds and help her feel better. We learn which tools to use and how to take care of ailing patients.

The puzzles in the Elena of Avalor collection are exactly what you’d expect: jigsaw puzzles and memory matching games. The simple, four-piece puzzles are best for young children, while the complicated jigsaws are perfect for older players. Matching games will test how many characters you can remember at once!

Whether or not your young ones watch Princess of Avalor on Disney, they’re bound to enjoy the free games on Poki.

3 Reasons You’ll Never Regret Booking Israel Guided Tours

Are you thinking where to go for your next holiday? Consider visiting Israel and when you do, book a guided tour to make your trip more memorable. Here are the reasons:

Israel is a holiday destination that offers something for everyone.

Israel has so much to offer to travelers considering that it is a nation rich in culture and history. For more than 1,500 years influences from the Muslim, Christian and Jew communities have been brewing in the nation and are currently evident across the land. In short, the diverse culture has allowed the country to provide a wide assortment of sights and sounds that any type of tourist can delight in.

So if you’re into the urban lifestyle, Tel Aviv is definitely your home away from home. It’s the cosmopolitan center of Israel where you can enjoy not just the urban vibe but also the quaint cafes and stunning beaches in the area.

If you’re new to Israel, you’ll definitely want to visit the famous sites that the country is known for. A quick research will let you discover so many world-famous places including the Dead Sea, the Old City of Jerusalem, the Ramon Crater, Baha’i Gardens and the Old Jaffa. Simply book Israel guided tours to get from one place to another quickly and conveniently.

Israel guided tours will save you the hassle of travel planning.

Do-it-yourself travel planning may be a common trend these days, but the truth is that you can save even more time, effort and money when you book Israel guided tours. How come? Well, for one, travel agencies are knowledgeable of the various landmarks in Israel, and thus, their guides can take you to the most interesting parts of each site. You won’t even have to worry about determining how to get from one landmark to another in a timely manner because your tour guides have set the itineraries to ensure that you are back to your hotel before evening comes. In most cases, you also won’t have to worry about bringing lots of cash during the trip especially when your guided tour package already includes transportation fees and entrance tickets. Meals, especially lunch, are also included in many guided tour packages. In short, all you have to do is determine the sites you want to visit, know what’s included in the tour package and pay the price.

Guided tours will let you focus on fun, enjoyment and relaxation for your holiday.

The convenience of opting for Israel guided tours extends from the planning stage to the moment you’re on the trip already. Your guides will have the right vehicle with them, and thus, you will be able to relax in between sites. But even if the tour includes commuting in public transport, your guides know the schedules of the trips and the right ferry, bus or train to board. In short, your logistics are taken care of.

In many cases, you can customize your tour wherein the itinerary is focused more on your specific interest and passion, turning your trip an even more memorable one. For example, you can request for a tour that takes you through historical landmarks of Israel or perhaps focus on religious sites. You can even choose to have a food discovery tour where you go through local markets to buy ingredients, sample a variety of cuisines or learn the local cooking style.

“Rise from the Ashes” with Smokey the Bear #SmokeyBearHug #OnlyYou @smokey_bear

smokey the bear

If you are one to keep up with national news, you have no doubt seen the chaos and devastation that the wildfires are causing across 7 different states. Thousands of acres burned, families who have lost their homes, and even people who have lost their lives. We have all heard the message of Smokey Bear – he has been telling us to prevent fires for 72 years now. His message is just as important now as it was back in 1944.

Smokey Bear’s message about wildfire prevention is the center of the longest running and one of the most successful PSA campaigns in our nation’s history. Although progress has been made, accidental, human-caused wildfires remain one of the most critical environmental issues affecting the U.S. the Soberanes fire, in California, is a perfect example. This fire was caused by an abandoned campfire. By someone being careless and not thinking about the consequences.

fire

We have to take preventative action, always! And while we all know that matches, burning cigarettes, and abandoned campfires are all potential threats for wildfire – there are MANY lesser known causes. Ones that you might be participating in and not even realize it.

Did you know? A wildfire can start due to the following:

  • Improperly extinguished fire pit
  • Dumping ashes from a BBQ/grill
  • Metal chains hanging from a moving vehicle
  • Parking over tall, dry grass
  • Dying embers left in a campfire
  • Oil from a lantern

Note: To Avoid Such Issues You May Make a Best Fire Pit that will help in various ways while traveling.

Coinciding with Smokey Bear’s 72nd birthday, the Ad Council, the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters (NASF), have launched a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) created to help prevent wildfires nationwide by increasing awareness about less commonly known fire starts.

forest fire

Although most of us don’t behave this way intentionally, each year we learn of devastating wildfires caused by careless behavior which can impact millions of acres of forest and thousands of homes. Although four out of five wildfires are started by people, nature is usually more than happy to help fan the flames.

  • In 2014 there were 7,933 wildfires caused by lightning, but 55,679 wildfires caused by human error (as reported to the National Interagency Fire Center).
  • In 2015 58,916 human-caused wildfires burned over 2 million acres.

Nature, the forest, our parks and trails – these are all an immensely important part of our lives. We need to take the pledge to be smart when we go outdoors. To do everything we can to preserve our beautiful forests. Will you join me in taking the pledge? I for one want to see these incredible lands preserved for my children and for their children.

3 Tips for Hiring a Car Abroad

When traveling abroad it can be hassle to rely on public transport to get you around. With language often a barrier, many travelers get stressed at the thought of having to get themselves from place to place on bus or train, in fear they might get on the wrong one. On your next trip abroad, avoid the dreaded public transport and hire yourself a car, giving you the freedom you need to get wherever you want. In this article, we have three tips to make sure that everything goes smoothly for you when hiring a car abroad.

Make Sure You’re Eligible to Hire and Drive a Car

Before you can even consider hiring a car abroad, you need to make sure that you’re eligible to do so. Depending on where you’re traveling to in the world, laws will be different. Most of the time you need to be over the age of 21 and have been driving for 3 years or more. Check out the government advice here. If you haven’t yet passed your test but want to hire a car in the future, then use Toptests to help you with your theory. Then get your test booked as soon as possible.

Decide Where You’re Going to Pick It Up and Drop It Off

Most airports around the world have hire car services within them, meaning that you can pick your car up as soon as you get off the plane, although this might come at a higher cost. So if you’re looking to save some money on your trip then find out places close by to the airport that you can hire your car from. If you’re staying in the same city on your trip, then picking up and dropping off your car at the same place will be the best option for you. Whereas if you’re leaving the city you flew into and flying back from elsewhere then you’ll need to find out where you can drop off your car before you leave. Most car hire services will have dealerships across the country, so you should have no trouble in finding out where to drop it off.

Make Sure You Know the Fuel Situation

Once you’ve picked up your car, make sure you firstly know what type of fuel it takes and secondly know how much fuel you need to return it with. By knowing this information you’ll avoid any mishaps on the trip and expensive fees on your return to the dealership. Make sure you know where you can stop for fuel whenever you’re driving to avoid running out and ending up in a stressful situation.

Hiring a car abroad will give you the freedom that you’re looking for, giving you endless alternatives of places you can visit to get to know every part of this world. Make sure more than one of you can drive the car, so that you can take it in turns and avoid accidents caused by tiredness during your trip.

Fun Soccer Marathons in FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush

When I think of soccer video games, I imagine 20 players moving across the field in different directions. I’ve seen the best-selling titles (like FIFA on PC/Playstation/Xbox), and they look downright confusing to me. The most realistic soccer games are for athletes and savvy fans – those who know the ins and outs of play formations, dribbling, and advanced passing. Recently, I discovered FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush. It’s a casual game that welcomes anyone and everyone – whether you player soccer or don’t know a single thing about it.

game app

FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush is an endless runner. This is a type of game that many children love to play, because there’s ongoing action from start to finish. The gameplay is quite comparable to Subway Surfers, which has been downloaded over a billion times. If that tells you anything, it’s that endless runners are addictive and fun. In my opinion, FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush has more educational value than any of its peers. This is because it features real athletes from Spain’s legendary soccer team. Also, there is a deep skill system that requires basic math to make the best decisions.

The list of available players includes Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Luis Suarez (among others). I did a bit of research, and I was impressed by how much each in-game character looks like their real-life counterpart! Messi has his signature Quiff, Iniesta sports a Mohawk, and Suarez’s face is photorealistic. FCB fans are bound to love playing as their favorite athlete, especially with such authenticity involved.

The skill tree and upgrade system in FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush are simple enough to understand, but deep enough to add great value. There are 10 different types of skills that you can buy and improve at any point during the game. Certain ones reward you with gold just for playing. For example, if you have the Manager skill, you will earn hundreds of coins when you initially load the game each day. Other skills work like traditional power-ups. The Adrenaline Beast skill makes temporary invincibility last longer. Depending on how you like to play, you might choose to max out a single skill for each athlete. Or, you can spread skills evenly across your entire team. You’re the manager, so you get to make every important decision!

There’s also a fun reward component of FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush. Every day, you can collect prizes from the gift box. One of my favorite ways to win prizes is from scratchers. These are scratch cards that make you feel like you’ve won the lottery! If you match three icons (which is very easy to do), you get a special prize, such as coins, energy, or a new skill.

I don’t know much about soccer, but I do know that FC Barcelona Ultimate Rush is an excellent game. After playing it myself, I let my young one try. He loved running down the streets of Barcelona, kicking soccer balls and capturing shiny gold!

Watersports to enjoy in Benidorm

pic1

Benidorm, on the eastern coast of Spain, is nestled in the small region of Alicante. A former fishing village, it is now a popular Mediterranean destination with tourists looking to soak up some sunshine. What’s more, its miles of uninterrupted coastline make it perfect for water sports, and here are three of the best.

Sea kayaking in Marco Polo

If you have tried your hand at kayaking before and are keen to try something a bit different, then sea kayaking could be the sport for you. Marco Polo Expediciones on the Avenue de Europa offer a 2-hour sea kayak leaving from Benidorm’s main harbour and is the perfect way to explore Benidorm Bay. Stop off at some of Benidorm’s most popular beaches like Levante and Poniente. Prices start at 28 euros for children under 12 and 35 euros for adults; this includes kayak rental and insurance.

Scuba diving in Avda La Vila Joiosa

Benidorm is a fantastic place for those who love to scuba dive, as there are a number of diving facilities which cater both for people who have never done it before, and those who want to book themselves on to specialist courses and gain further certification. Nisos Dive Centre is in the Avda La Vila Joiosa, and offers guests the chance to explore the Bay of Benidorm’s marline life in style. Head to Poniente beach, where boats leave every 5 minutes, transporting visitors to the centre.

Sea trekking in Paseo Colón

Diving Stones in Paseo Colón is located directly in the harbour, so there is no need to carry around heavy diving equipment (which is especially hard if you are visiting at peak season, as it can be very hot). The centre offers a variety of courses, both for first timers and experienced water sports enthusiasts. If you find the thought of scuba diving a little intimidating, sea trekking can be a great place to start. Visitors are given a helmet to wear (your face and head remain completely dry and you can breathe normally) and are submerged at around 15-20 feet under the water. It’s a great opportunity to give underwater diving a try whilst remaining at a reassuring depth below the surface.

Benidorm holidays are available all year round, but if you are looking for the best weather for water sports, try visiting mid to late august, when the sea is warm. Make sure you check out the weather conditions in advance, as many sports could be called off if the sea is a little choppy.
