Are you ready for to feel old? I hope so, because the original Shrek movie is celebrating its 15th anniversary. That means there is an entire generation that may not have seen the original green onion, I mean ogre, in all is glory. The first Shrek movie came out from Dreamworks Animation in 2001. The first Shrek movie follows the adventures of Shrek and his not so helpful friend Donkey where they meet Princess Fiona and Dragon to name a few of the familiar faces. Shrek goes on to make 3 more movies and even a few holiday specials and shorts.

My son loves all the Shrek movies. He is a big fan of Shrek and has been since he first saw the movie. We also ate green popcorn and wore green-Shrek ear/ head bands which made the viewing experience a ton more fun for him. The beauty of a movie like Shrek is that there is humor aimed toward adults which flies right over kids heads, and also a simple easy to follow story with lovable main characters and clear cut good guys/ bad guys throughout the movie. It is a movie that is actually fun for everyone to watch.

Shrek is a definitely watch for any age but is especially fun for families.

#HighStrungMovie opens April 8th

My son and I recently saw the movie “High Strung” , which opens in theaters April 8th. We both enjoyed the movie, which was full of dancing (of all kinds and varieties), music, and some stars of one of our favorite TV shows, “So You Think You Can Dance”. In fact, one of the companies that helped make the movie was the Dizzy Feet Foundation, which is the brainchild of the show’s hosts and producer Nigel Lythgoe and director Adam Shankman to help bring dance to everyone.

The show had a light plot, and of course a love story- the love of arts, but also of a young, down on his luck violinist and a blonde ballerina.

My son was able to meet choreographer Dave Scott, who has also appeared on So You Think You can Dance, as well as stars of the movie Keenan Kampa and Nicholas Galitzine. He loved seeing the people on the big screen in person, especially Dave Scott (whom he has been watching for years).

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Activity Sheets

Did you know that Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs is coming out on Blu-ray February 2nd? Check out these Bonus Clips and fun Activity Sheets to share with the kids, and then head out and grab the DVD. This was the first movie I remember seeing as a child, and is a fond memory for me. Snow White was also the first play that I every preformed in, making it a doubly-special movie. I hope your children will enjoy it as much as I did.

These lessons provide a wonderful reminder to families that we can show love to others everyday just as God continuously shows us his love!

This DVD has some favorites from past shows and movies, as well as Larry asking kids important questions. It’s a movie you don’t have to worry about letting your kids watch- it’s safe and full of good values, sweet and silly songs, and teaching kids the right way to treat others. Even if you are not a very religious person or family, Veggie Tales is still great for kids because there really is no parent that doesn’t agree with things like “love your neighbor” and sharing with others, yes?

My son has always loved Veggie Tales, even if we were a little late to the game with them- he saw them for the first time when he was about 4, I believe. But he really liked them from the first go, and still does at age 8. He was thrilled when this new Veggie Tales arrived, and he can’t wait to watch it! If only he didn’t have school…..ha.
