“Eossi Beauty, the newest indie beauty brand creating affordable luxury plant-based products, officially launched its brand on International Self-Care Day and announced the first product drop: Facial Glow Oil #8. Inspired by the power of plants, including argan oil and CBD, the Facial Glow Oil #8 illuminates the skin with natural ingredients.

Designed to complement a daily beauty routine, the facial oil is a hydrating, restorative skincare solution that gives the skin a natural glow. The Eossi Beauty team created Facial Glow Oil #8 after recognizing a growing demand in the beauty space for high-quality, trusted CBD products at accessible price points. The ingredients—which include essential oils and broad-spectrum, hemp-derived CBD that is third-party lab tested—were meticulously selected for their skin-enhancing properties.

Facial Glow Oil #8 is named for the formulation: Of the 16 batches tested when developing the final formula, #8 was the perfect one.” (according to Business Wire)

Skincare Routine for Oily Skin with The Face Shop

It’s essential to start taking care of your skin, especially if you have skin that’s prone to acne and breakouts. Oily skin is one of the known skin types that need a specific skincare regimen because it’s likely to develop pimples and blackheads if left unattended.

The main goal is not to convert your oily skin type to normal, but to control the condition of your skin and prevent acne flareups. Try to use products that are safe to use even for sensitive and acne-prone skin, and are not harmful to the environment, either- better for you and everything else, as well.

Here are tips and options for managing and taking care of your oily skin:

Modify Existing Skincare Specifically for Oily Skin

Active oil-producing glands in our face can cause oily skin. Check all the products that you’re currently using to see if they are suitable for oily skin. However, if the oil only appears on certain parts like the T section of the forehead, nose bridge, cheeks, and chin, then you might not have oily but combination skin.

  • Salicylic acid – increases the moisture content and dissolves other substances.
  • Tea tree oil – is a natural antiperspirant found in most anti-acne products.
  • Sulfur – helps in drying the skin surface, unclogging pores, and absorbing sebum or excess oil that contributes to acne breakouts.
  • Glycolic acid – improves the skin’s overall texture

You may already have a skincare routine, and you just realized that you have oily skin, you can improve it. If the products are for oily skin, but you don’t see any improvements in your skin condition, then you need to modify your existing skincare routine.

Follow the recommended skincare regimen below:

1. Double-cleanse, tone and moisturize twice a day

Double cleansing is crucial for oily skin. Start with an oil cleanser, cleansing balm, or makeup remover if you had to wear cosmetics. After oil cleansing, use cleansing foam or water cleanser.

Toning is essential to balance the pH level on your skin and remove the acids before applying treatments. It also acts as a third cleanser that removes stubborn dirt.

Wrap up your routine by gently applying an oil-free and light moisturizer. Do this twice a day to control your skin from producing too much oil the entire day.

2. Try using an astringent on alternate days

If you are suffering from excessively oily skin, you can opt to use an astringent every other day. This product will help further remove oil and tighten your pores. There are high levels of alcohol found inside an astringent that can be harsh and over-dry skin, which is why it’s not recommended for daily usage.

Never use astringent when you just exfoliated your face. If you have moderately oily skin, you can skip this step.

3. Exfoliate your face at least once a week

Dead skin cells can develop and clog your pores. Exfoliating your skin is an excellent way to prevent your pores from causing acne, which is a regular occurrence for oily skin types. Most people choose to exfoliate their face with oil-free scrub made for oily skin types. Always be extra gentle when scrubbing your face to avoid skin irritation and redness.

4. Use a facial mask once every week

There are many Korean skincare mask selections, so try to look for a facial mask that contains clay as it can give your face deep-cleansing and can soak up excess sebum, which will help reduce shine for days. Also, try facial masks that contain honey that can soothe and prevent skin from drying out too much. Some of these masks may over dry your face, so you might consider placing them at the oiliest part of your skin.

The Bottomline

Customize your skincare products. Trying out those specifically made for people with oily skin does not always mean all of them will suit you. Some may contain ingredients that may irritate your skin or cause breakouts. You have to be careful of the products you apply on your face as they can be harmful to your skin. So now is the perfect time to make an action and get that fresh, shine-free complexion you’ve always wanted.

The “Dead Sea” Mask… I wish I had made a video of. It was interesting peeling off, and unlike some masks, actually did peel. It was clear, and very sticky going on. I got some in my eyebrows, which panicked me, but I had no trouble getting it off without taking off any hair. It got super tight as it dried, and looked like I was  taking off swaths of sunburnt skin as I peeled it off.

So. It peels off, and didn’t rip any hair. Great, yeah? Maybe. It didn’t take off any blackheads, either, as many peel masks will do. I didn’t notice much in the mask itself after it was off, and since it was translucent, I would think it would be easy to see anything that was pulled away, “ick” wise.

My skin, however, was super soft and felt fantastic, so there was that. It dried clear and shiny- below is how it looked just before I pulled it off.

Keeping Your Kids Safe in the Sun

Keeping your children protected when playing in the sun is a key priority for parents. We have all experienced the uncomfortable feeling of sunburn, and with nasty side effects such as dehydration and fevers; sun protection is crucial for a happy and healthy holiday with your little ones.

As the children enjoy plenty of time off school and outdoors, I thought it would be useful to take a look at the important matter of sun care for your children, and the top ways to keep your children safe in the sunshine this summer.

  • Sun Exposure
If possible, it is advised that exposure to the sun is limited between the hours of 10am and 2pm, when the sun is at its highest. UV rays at their strongest between this time, and therefore this can be the most harmful time for your children to out in the sun.
  • Sun Cream
Sun cream is a must when it comes to your children, even if the sun is hidden away. Always use a high protector sun cream for your children, 50+ is the recommended factor by researches. When purchasing your suncream, products designed especially for kids are generally best, as they generally have a very high factor and are gentle on the skin.
  • Suncream Application
To ensure maximum protection from your suncream, remember to apply 15 to 30 minutes before heading out in the sun, giving the cream time to absorb into to the skin. Suncream also needs to be reapplied every 2 hours and after swimming or sweating.
