What better than jetting off to paradise for an escape from school, work and routine with a laid-back holiday in the Caribbean? For the kids, there are miles of sand to run around on, warm, clear waters to snorkel in and plenty of sunshine. For parents, there’s poolside lounging, fiery jerk chicken, forest hikes and rum. Here are some other reasons your family will fall in love with the Caribbean.

There’s something for everyone

A trip to the Caribbean islands for families, means a revolving menu of fun options, depending on where you choose to visit. In the Bahamas, there are miles of uncrowded white sand shoreline, the perfect place for a little relaxation. In picturesque St Lucia, lush botanic gardens and rainforest sky trails beckon the adventurous. In Trinidad and Tobago, there are over 250 bird species to spot: the perfect activity for budding ornithologists!

A plenitude of resorts

From tiny little Turks and Caicos to Barbados, there are plenty to choose from. As standard, most come with lifeguard-attended pools, a program of activities for children, and babysitting services when you need the night off.

Once in a lifetime experiences

Perhaps you have always wanted to swim with dolphins. In Punta Cana, you can, as well as sharks and stingrays, if you’re feeling daring! Or, you might want to spend the day snorkeling through clouds of multicolored fish: in Bonaire National Marine Park, you can dive straight in. Maybe you want to tour a real chocolate factory, in which case, make for St Lucia’s Rabot Estate. Your Caribbean holidays have the potential to be the trip of a lifetime, so make sure every day there counts.

Plenty for active families

Learn to kitesurf, hit a dizzying zipline trail through the forest or race down a roaring river on a rubber tube: there are plenty of ways to get your pulse pounding and work together as a family team in the Caribbean. There are also some more conventional activities available that you might already enjoy; tennis, golf and volleyball are all widely available in the Caribbean, whether you want to perfect your swing or dive around in the sand.

With laid-back restaurants and chilled public spaces, you’ll also find you’re more likely to indulge the kids, meaning a more relaxing experience for everyone involved!
